ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY WORK EFFECT
OF NOISE ON IN THE AIRPORT SYAMSUDIN NOOR
BANJARMASIN KALIMANTAN SELATAN
2. 1.1. Background:
Noise is unwanted sound from the business or activity within a certain time level and that can cause human health
problems and environmental comfort (Kep. MenLH. N0. 48 Tahun 1996)
In a period of 25 years, approximately 10 million Americans have hearing loss due to noise exposure in the
workplace. Similarly in Indonesia, which has a particularly deafness cases of hearing loss are quite high at 4.6%.
1.2. Purpose :
1. Knowing the noise level in the area Syamsudin Noor
Airport
2. Knowing the influence of the noise exposure of
workers in the area Syamsudin Noor Airport
3. Knowing how to control noise in the area Syamsudin
Noor Airport
1.3. Formulation of the problem :
1. What is the level of noise in the area Syamsudin
Noor Airport?
2. How does the influence of noise on the workers in
the area Syamsudin Noor Airport?
3. How do I control the noise in the area Syamsudin
Noor Airport?
I. INTRODUCTION
3. II. LITERATURE
Sound-wave vibration of substance
molecules that collided in a
coordinated that can cause waves and
pass the energy and partly reflected
(Salim, 2002).
Noise is unwanted sound from the business
or activity within a certain time level and
that can cause human health problems and
environmental comfort (Kep. MenLH. N0.
48 Tahun 1996). According to KepMenLH.
No. Kep-51 / MEN /1999 NAB workplace
noise of 85 dB/8 hours.
According Suma'mur (1992) Noise can lead
to physiological disorders are difficult to
concentrate and psychological disorders:
depression as a result of the accumulation of
physiological disorders, and can interfere
with the auditory system for example
deafness.
According Chaeran (2008), noise control is
divided into three aspects, that is :
• At the source
• At spread media
•In humans:
Technically
Administratively
Medically
Personal protective equipment (eg
ear plug and ear muff)
4. III. METODOLOGI OF RESEARCH
Location of Research :
Syamsudin Noor Airport
Time Research: October 2015
Population Research: Whole PT.Angkasa
Pura employees who work in the Apron area
Sample Research: 6
Data collection technique :
Observation
Interview
Data analysis technique :
•Univariate analysis
•Bivariate analysis
Characteristic of research : Analytical description
Research Design: Cross Sectional
Conceptual framework :
Dependent variables: frequency of noise
Independent variables: the impact of noise
Data Collection Method: Primer data, that is
noise measurements directly
Data collection technique :
Observation
Interview
5. IV. RESEARCH RESULT
Table 4.1 Intensity Noise Measurement Results when the airplane Take Off in
Apron Syamsudin Noor Airport on October 2015
Table 4.2 Intensity Noise Measurement Results when the airplane Landing in
Apron Syamsudin Noor Airport on October 2015
6. V. DISCUSSION
Threshold Limit Values for Physical Factors in
the Workplace at 85 dB / 8 hours
(Kepmenaker No. KEP-51 / MEN / 1999)
Take off
The highest frequency: 84 dB (Both Engine on)
Average: 77.98 dB
Below threshold
Landing
The highest frequency: 93.5 dB (Both Engine on)
Average: 92.28 dB
Above the
threshold
Because at the time of measurement, activity in the apron area was
busy because there are many airplane was boarding.
7. Undang-undang No. 1. 1970.
Clause 3, paragraph (1), The
employers requiring workforce to
make the protection by providing
a healthy workplace and protected
from occupational diseases and
accidents.
Used of Ear Protective Equipment
(PPE) is an obligation by the
surrounding environment if the
worker exposure to noise intensity
85 dBA for 8 hours or 40
hours/week. (Leksono, 2009)
Based on interviews in Syamsudin Noor
Airport is known that Ear Protective
Equipment (PPE) only used by the marshaller
because the lack of provision of Ear Protective
Equipment (PPE) and Ear Protective
Equipment (PPE) that do not suitable the
criteria. Ear Protective Equipment (PPE) that
used is earmuff.
From the observation, exposure time of
noise is 6 working days/week for 8 hours /
day. But during of working time is just
marshaller that used Ear Protective
Equipment (PPE), because the lack of
awareness level of other workers to use Ear
Protective Equipment (PPE) .
V. DISCUSSION (ADVANCED)
8. 5.1 Conclusion
The conclusion is :
1. The noise level in the area Syamsudin Noor
Airport when the plane take off is 77.98 dB and
when plane landing is 92.28 dB
2. Effect of exposure to noise on the workers who
work in the area Syamsudin Noor Airport is the
level of mild hearing loss (experienced by
workers who have worked for 8-9 years)
3. To control the noise in the area Syamsudin Noor
Airport is to provide soundproof working space
for the building which located close to the source
of the noise and the workers who work around
Apron obligated to use personal protective
equipment that is earmuff
5.2 Suggestion
The Suggestion is:
The Companies must complete availability of
personal protective equipment, and it would be
better if it requires that workers who work around
the noise source in order to use the personal
protective equipment to maintain health and
prevent accidents.
