Introduction
 Airport is a place where aero planes and aircrafts take off and land
passengers and cargo.
 Airports are busy, exciting places overhead planes approach the airport
on their assigned routes called traffic patterns.
 Airports resemble small cities. Many have hotels, banks, post-offices and
shopping malls.
 Runways must be long enough and wide enough to handle the largest
planes.
 The management staffs at airports are divided into several departments,
such as administration, finance, operations etc..
 An airport must operate like a business. Airports rent space to the
airlines for offices, ticket counters and baggage areas
 In addition the air-port receives income form parking , advertising and
telephones in the terminal, landing fees paid by the airlines and in some
airports, a passenger tax.
Objectives
The certain objectives of the study are as follows:-
 To study about the history of the organization.
 To understand services provided at TIA.
 To know how the resources of organization are managed.
 To get an idea about structure of the organization.
 To know about the functioning of each department.
Industry profile
Airports Authority of India (AAI)
 Airports Authority of India (AAI) was formed on 1st April, 1995 by
merging NAA and IAAI, to create a centralized organization that could
effectively manage both the international and domestic airports.
 It was formed by the Act in Parliament
 AAI manages 124 airports and also provides CNS/ATM services to all
civil airports in the country which covers Indian airspace measuring
Some of the important functions of AAI are:
 Passengers facilities
 Air navigation services
 Security
 HRD Training
Profile of the organization
 Trivandrum International Airport is located in Thiruvananthapuram
and is the first airport in the state of Kerala, India.
 TIA is considered as an "all weather" airport in the country and is ISO
9001-2000 certified
 It is the second busiest airport in Kerala in terms of domestic and
international traffic after Cochin International Airport.

 Non availability of exclusive cargo terminals
 Non availability of shopping malls, entertainment centers etc in
Terminal building.

 Increase in the number of potential customers due to the introduction of
new fare structure and economic travel plan.
 Growth of helicopter tourism promoted by Govt. of Kerala.
 Emphasis on Global tourism and Ayurveda.
 Introduction of new airlines providing less cost to encouraging more
passengers to travel by air.

 Competition from other privatized airports.
 Changing needs and perception of customers on service quality.
 Lack of proper accommodation facilities like five star hotels and other
amenities near airport.
 Concern over security threats

FINDINGS
 High qualified, skilled and hardworking labor force
 Good scope for increasing market shares both in passengers and cargo
movement
 Maintaining a good relationships between management and employees
 Employers and workers are well disciplined and efficient in their job
 There are no political interference in its daily operations
SUGGESTIONS
 It can increase the work force for better handling of passengers
and reduction of waiting time
 It can allow the cargo department to function as an independent
department
 Training and development program may be conducted on a periodic
basis
 The duties of employees need to be clearly defined to make them
more efficient and accountable
 Better control system over workers should be implemented
