1. How do you master
writing characters
effectively?
Try the experiment to find out.
Reflect on the process.
2. How many characters can your brain retain in short-term memory
after 10 minutes of practice?
1. Focus on five characters only. Write each character three times on the
worksheet. Follow the stroke order.
2. Use Learn on Quizlet. If you have an iPad, use handwriting input system
to write the character to practice
3. Test yourself or ask a peer to test you on writing the characters from memory
4. Record the result of the test. Reflect on this process
3. How many characters can you retain in 10 minutes of practice?
If you can retain five characters without missing any strokes/parts or creating new
variation of the characters, repeat writing 3 times for each character will be enough for
you because your brain is powerful enough to store the image in the short term
memory.
If not, you might need to repeat 4 - 6 times for each character. Repeat the same process
until you know how many times of repetition your brain needs to retain the image of
each character. When you find it challenging, focus on learning three characters only.
In order to extend the characters to long term memory, one must practice daily or at
least 3 times a week to ensure the complete image of each character stored in your
brain.
