The JPW Fund will support LEI’s goal to advance lean thinking, practice, and knowledge creation by supporting educational institutions and Gemba-based learning experiences. The learning experiences will develop the next generation of lean thinkers and practitioners, develop new lean knowledge, and improve teaching methods. Learners will apply the key concepts of lean thinking and management to improve the delivery of services at community-based organizations whose mission is to improve peoples’ lives.

Well we can.
We are proud to announce the formation of the James P. Womack Scholarship and Philanthropy Fund.
Dr. Womack resisted these accolades, but we persuaded him to advance these deeds in his name - for today and generations to come.Borrowing from a phrase in Poor Richard’s Almanac – “Do Well by Doing Good”, Jim reckoned we could “Do Good by Doing Good”. Another example of LEI’s thought leadership.
Suppose we could combine these aims in a program that inserts students into the Gemba of good causes in the name of our founder, James Womack.
We need five things from the Lean community in the coming months:
Recommended Knowledge Centers (Vocational, Undergrad and Graduate schools),
Recommended local charities (local, impactful and near the Knowledge Centers),
Scholarship candidates (enthusiastic students who will learn at the Gemba),
Faculty willing to coach the charities and students, and
Money – We raised $100K since last night – need five times that this spring, ten times that this year
