PharmD/MBA Dual Degree Curriculum
Updated November 2014
CORE CHOICE OPTIONS: In any area marked CORE CHOICE, students may choose any class meeting a University
core requirement listed below. When all university core requirements have been met, business classes may be
substituted in these spots. Also note that it is increasingly common for students to receive AP or IB credit for chemistry,
biology, and/or calculus; core or business choice classes could also be taken in those spots.
All students are required to take or have transfer, AP, or IB credit for all of the following core classes:
Check when completed
___ Social World (SW)
___ Perspectives in the Creative Arts (PCA)
___ Text and Ideas (T&I)
___ Physical Wellbeing (PWB)
REQUIRED BUSINESS COURSES
The undergraduate business classes (all of those not beginning with MBA) must be successfully completed with a grade
of a B or higher to meet the prerequisite for the MBA program.
BUSINESS CHOICE 1
The following classes should be taken prior to the beginning of the junior year. The order of the classes isn’t important
(except AC203 needs to be taken before AC204, and EC231 needs to be taken before EC232). Up to 12 credit hours may
be taken outside of Butler University. If planning to take classes at another university, complete the transfer credit
application and submit for approval BEFORE taking the class elsewhere. Not all classes are created equally; do not
assume a basic business class from a community college will transfer.
___ MS100 Business Excel ___ EC231 Microeconomics ___ MS 264 Statistics
___ AC203 Accounting I ___ EC232 Macroeconomics ___ MS 265 Information Technology
___ AC204 Accounting II
BUSINESS CHOICE 2
The following classes may not be taken before the junior year and many have prerequisites from the “Business Choice 1”
classes.
___ FN 340 Corporate Finance ___ MK380 Principles of Marketing ___ MG360 Organizational Behavior
MBA CHOICE
After being accepted into the MBA program, the following courses must be taken. MBA 505 must be taken first and MBA
545 must be taken last. The order of the other courses is not as important.
___ MBA505 Gateway Experience ___ MBA510 Leadership ___ MBA515 Legal/Ethical
___ MBA520 Managerial Accounting ___ MBA522 Business Practicum* ___ MBA525 Managerial Economics
___ MBA530 Financial Management ___ MBA535 MK Management/research ___ MBA540 Info Man/Bus Analytics
___ MBA542 Entrepreneurial Mindset ___ MBA545 Integrated Capstone
* May substitute MBA 571 Global Business Experience
