NOV
Ingredients:
Pastry:
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 tbsp tablespoon of sugar
1 tsp teaspoon of salt
1 cup of unsalted butter
(cubed)
2 large eggs
2 tbsp tablespoons of milk
1/2 cup of jam of your choice
Frosting:
1 tbsp tablespoon of cream cheese
3/4 cups of icing sugar
Juice from half of a lemon
2-3 drops of food colouring of your
choice
Optional:
Sprinkles
Preparation: 25 minutes
Yield: 6+ servings
You can also fill your pastry
with Nutella, peanut butter or
other flavours of jam, and you
can use pre-made store bought
puff pastry in place of
handmade dough!
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
Add butter. In a separate bowl whisk milk and egg together and
pour into flour mixture, mixing with your hands until combined.
2. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface, and using a rolling pin
roll out 12 3x4 rectangles using a sharp knife to make clean cuts.
3. Fill rectangles with jam and brush the edges of each rectangle with
a whisked egg to bind the two pieces together, lay the other
rectangle overtop and press down edges using a fork. Poke several
small holes in the top of the pastry using a toothpick and place on a
parchment paper lined tray. Bake for 15 minutes, cool and frost!
4. To make icing mix together cream cheese, icing sugar, lemon juice
and red food colouring with an electric hand mixer on the lowest
setting for two minutes. Top with sprinkles!
