Multicamera Show Breakdown/Format
- 1. Multicamera Show Breakdown (Format)
Fully Scripted Shows
When a programme is fully scripted, it includes detailed information on all aspects of the
production, including scenes, shots, dialogue, equipment, basic camera instructions, vision mixer
instructions, contributory sources, rehearsal script, camera script and full script.
SCENES
Most productions are divided into a series of ‘scenes’. Each scene covers a complete continuous
action sequence and is identified with a number and location (Scene 3 Office set). A scene can
involve anything from an interview to a dance routine, song, or a demonstration. For News it will be
build around the various stories and features that will be covered.

TASK
1. Write an entry in your Production Diary entitled ‘Format’ or ‘Show Breakdown’
2. Explain what a show format is and why multicamera studio shows use them.
3. Create a table like the example above for your show with your own individual proposals for
your news programme format. Include each segment separately and suggest timings.
Check that the overall timings add up to 10 mins
4. Have this ready for next lesson so you can share with the rest of the group.
