This document summarizes the author's second draft of their table of contents for a magazine. They chose a minimalist theme, looking to Clash magazine for inspiration over the more crowded style of NME. Photos were selected to relate to different rock genres and express the theme. Consistent fonts like Impact Label were used to aid memorability and continuity across the magazine. Editorial pillars with Impact Label inside black bars were created as a recurring design element.

1. This is my second draft of my table of contents. I decided to stick to a minimalistic theme therefore making it very structured instead of it being busy on the page. I looked at NME magazine and saw that their contents page was quite crowded and I did not want this as I knew it would not fit with my theme. Therefore I looked at clash and decided to follow their minimalistic approach and I think this fits perfectly with my theme running through my magazine.

2. I took all the pictures as did I with my DPS and front cover and in the first draft I had to change one picture as it was not my own, however I did change it to my own picture. I tried to use pictures that relate to the theme of rock as they look very alternative and some look quite punk therefore I made sure all my pictures followed different genres of rock so that they could express the magazine well.

3. I used the same font of impact label for some areas of the contents page to keep the consistency of this font as it runs through my magazine therefore making it quite a statement within the magazine as it is easy to remember. I also used impact label reversed to contrast and compliment the impact label as it is similar just without the highlight of the black, therefore making the fonts relate and work well together. Making them quite memorable as it stands out in the magazine.

4. I decided to create little editorial pillars which followed a neat theme of having a black bar with the font inside which was impact label and then above and underneath the impact label reversed. This creates a recurring theme on the contents page making it stand out and look neat. It is also quite unconventional as the minimalist look of the page is very different to some other magazines. I used the black line at the top and bottom of the page which included the masthead at the top and the subscription note at the bottom. I also did something similar in my DPS with the masthead and the continuous black line running across both pages and a shorter one at the bottom with the anchor in. I did this so that it could match and show a running theme throughout the magazine.
