Work is defined as the transference of energy produced by the motion of an object due to an applied force. Work is calculated by multiplying the force applied by the displacement of the object in the direction of the force. The unit of work is the Newton meter (Nm) or Joule (J). Examples are provided to demonstrate calculating work by multiplying force and displacement, such as a woman pushing a grocery cart 7 meters with a 500 Newton force, resulting in 3500 Nm of work.
