percent of all goods and services produced in the United States are by
small business. Small business is America’s future. The Small Business
Consortium provides the expertise to ensure the success of that future.
Small businesses in the Greensboro area have a valuable resource in
the Small Business Consortium. The group was formed in 1988 by the
Greensboro Chamber of Commerce as a means to consolidate and
coordinate services to the small business community by promoting small
business referrals and joint sponsorship of educational and informational
programs focusing on development and growth of small businesses.

Elon Small Business
and Entrepreneurship Clinic (SBEC)
The Elon Law Small Business and Entrepreneurship Clinic (“SBEC”) provides free legal
services of various types to eligible clients including general legal counseling, choice of
entity advising, organizational document drafting and review, N.C. Secretary of State
compliance, contract review and drafting, employment and H.R. advising, regulatory
compliance and financing documentation.

The Forge
The Forge provides the community with inexpensive access
to a workshop area and a collaborative space. The workshop
area provides access to equipment not commonly available
to individuals. The collaborative space provides an area for
advanced software development, digital design, electronics
fabrication, meetings, and seminars.

This office of IRS works with payroll, practitioner and industry stakeholders to provide
information about IRS policies, practices and procedures. Our goal is to deliver key
messages and identify, elevate, and resolve identified tax administration issues or
concerns to enhance SB/SE programs and promote voluntary compliance. Our key
small business and industry resources include:
 The IRS Video Portal contains video and audio presentations on topics of interest to
small businesses. You will find video clips of tax topics, archived versions of live
panel discussions and webinars in addition to a link to our Virtual Small Business
Tax Workshop.
 Online Tax Centers have been developed to quickly find information related to a
particular industry or profession on one page.
 Audit Technique Guides explain industry-specific examination techniques and
include common, as well as, unique industry issues, business practices and
terminology.

provides assistance to Businesses who need information and/or help regarding their

Business (ICEEB)
The NC A&T Interdisciplinary Center for Entrepreneurship
and E-Business provides educational and networking

owners and to people interested in starting a business. Its
seminars, workshops, networking breakfasts and lunches,
and internship program encourages and strengthens small
businesses. A Lecture Series and Collegiate Entrepreneurs
Conference bring entrepreneurs and students together for
networking, mentoring, and continuing education. In

NC Military Business Center
(NCMBC)
North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) is a collaborative effort
between NC business & industry and the NC Community College System.
The Military Business Center leverages the presence of the military in North
Carolina to promote economic development and quality of life for all.
Goals: to increase military business for existing North Carolina companies,
to integrate transitioning military personnel and family members into the
workforce, and to support recruitment and development of defense related
businesses in North Carolina. NCMBC’s MatchForce (MatchForce.org) matches

Nussbaum Center for
Entrepreneurship (NCFE)
The Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship, Inc. is a private non-
profit corporation whose mission is to enhance economic
development in Greensboro and the surrounding area. To
accomplish this, the Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship
operates a business incubator located near the center of
Greensboro. The incubator is designed to support non-retail, new or
emerging businesses in the service and light manufacturing arena.
The Center provides modestly priced office and light manufacturing
space along with shared support services such as business
counseling, receptionist, copier, fax, mail boxes, etc.

The Small Business Technology Development Center
(SBTDC) is a business development service of the
University of North Carolina system. We provide
management counseling and educational services to small
and mid-sized businesses. We help established firms, high-

challenges, manage change, and plan for the future. Our
primary focus addresses financing, marketing, human

UNC-G & NC A&T: University
Engagement Office

UNCG and N.C. A&T have created this office to increase the visibility
and accessibility of university entrepreneurship, innovation and
engagement initiatives and provide better connectivity to a broad array
university resources in Greensboro and throughout the UNC system.
The office will be operated by a rotating team of existing staff from
UNCG’s Office of Innovation Commercialization, UNCG’s NC
Entrepreneurship Center, and N.C. A&T’s Office of Outreach and
Economic Development, who will provide regular office hours
accessible to HQ Greensboro members and visitors. To provide easier
access, many university events that are open to the general public will
be held in HQ Greensboro’s event space instead of on campuses.

Assistance Center
The U.S. Export Assistance Centers of North Carolina
help NC businesses to excel in international markets.
Our experienced International Trade Specialists are
located in Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh.
Amongst the 165 offices in 82 countries throughout the
world, Trade Specialists in the global network will assist
U.S. firms to export products and services by identifying
qualified international buyers and representatives,
advocating on their behalf, and providing comprehensive
solutions to whatever challenges they may encounter.
