- The Mexican Government, launched the project "Mujeres migrantes en pro de sus derechos humanos" (migrant women in pro of their human rights) . The project seeks to generate actions and strategies supported on technology, in order to reduce the risks migrant women face, during arrival and return. Mujermigrante.mx is a digital platform that provides information and communication services to women and families affected by the phenomenon of migration, in order to help prevent their social alienation due to geographical, educational, economic and cultural reasons. The website permanently facilitates information and communication among migrant women and their families. It currently receives a monthly average of 2,500 visits, mainly from Mexico, the United States, Ecuador, Colombia and Spain.
- Project's Added Value and Importance Mujer Migrante is an integral project, composed of a multidisciplinary group focused on the attention of people whose educational, economic, cultural and gender vulnerability is attempted to be mitigated through different strategies and technological tools, like: More than 700 digital resources with focus on gender and human rights, including, infographs, videos and courses. - Radio spots to broadcast the contents and services provided by the website, via Radio Universitaria e Indígena (Indigenous University Radio Station)
- Mujer migrante recently launched mobile applications To provide live guidance and information to migrants. - Help! provides Q&A alluding to frequent emergency situations for migrants. If offer functions to call emergency numbers where you can be attended - The Mujer migrante chat to consult the online user service portal from a mobile device with Mac OS and Android mobile platform - Friends ’ hands, has a database of Mexico with references to shelters, hospitals, maps and migrant support centers - Legal guide offers clear and simple explanations of the different laws that protect the rights of migrants in Mexico and data on where to go if you need legal support for the defense of these rights.
- The website also offers online courses. To mention some: "Women Who Migrate", a 40 hours course, where topics on human rights, gender equality, digital inclusion and the main problems associated with migration process are addressed. Other courses include: Women's access to justice, sexual and reproductive rights of women, migrant women and work, community organization and participation of women, labor rights of migrant women, women in migration, single mothers and heads of households, justice as law and citizenship and naturalization.
- The project also considers training government employees and population in general in aspects related to migration using online and offline tools. With this, the project aims to make sensitive employees attending women migrants. Mujer Migrante has delivered more than 40 classroom training workshops nationwide (41), benefiting 800 government employees and civil organizations, particularly in states with greater migration.
- On-line and on-time care services and telephone support through a toll-free number. It has a toll-free number with the aim of channeling the information that require migrant women and their families. The referral service is to offer updated and reliable information of public institutions and social organizations. It serves as a guide to the migrant population. The calls are attended by professionals specialized in the services provided by institutions and organizations focused on migrant women.
- Conclusion One of the main lessons learned throughout the development of this project is the great potential ICTs provide, in order to mitigate the risks faced by women when migrating. In this project, ICTs fulfill their function as a tool to achieve national development objectives, clearly focused on improving the standard of living of people and the development of countries.
