4. KEY COMPETENCES
THE CHALLENGE OFTHE NEXTYEARS
Key competences are a reference model for education and training in Europe
(Reccomendation of European Parliament and of European Council
18/12/2006 - 2006/962/CE - Joint Progress Report 2010).
Key competences are often acquired and
developed in non-formal and informal contexts;
this makes them not assessed nor recognized
and consequently not used by adults for their
personal and professional improvement.
With VINTAGE project we wanted to meet this challenge by developing a
framework for the assessment of Key competences and an ONLINE DIGITAL
TOOL FOR SELF ASSESSMENTOF KEY COMPETENCES.
5. HOWTO MEET THE CHALLENGE
VINTAGE aims to
describe the European background valorising existing strategies and
approaches for the assessment of skills and competences
realize a framework, with a set of indicators and descriptors for the
assessment of key competences and a checklist to guide the self-
assessment according to standardized levels
realize, on the basis of the designed framework, an online tool for
the self-assessment of the key competences
test the framework involving trainers/teachers; test the
online tool involving adult learners

8. VINTAGE FRAMEWORK
It consists in:
1. an explanation of each of the
eight key competences;
2. with a set of descriptors of
mastery referring to different
values, for example not
adequate, adequate, good,
excellent;
3. a checklist for the self-
assessment of each key
competence according to
existing standards and criteria.

9. BASIC PORTFOLIO
The BASIC PORTFOLIO consists in a
format (grid or other) where adult and
elderly learners can record the results of
the self-assessment of key competences.
It is intended to be a tool guiding people to complete
with awareness the self evaluation of key
competences on the basis of the designed framework.
