2. Content of enter page and first impressions-
The enter page opens up with the scream mask and title which dominates the page and
has a strong effect on the viewer. Then the trailer automatically plays which I think is
good as that is what sells the film usually and what the audience like to see. After the
trailer the enter page is quite misleading as my first impression was that it is the
homepage as there was some content already on it such as an advert for the DVD, official
trailer and scream game. It was only because I was analyzing the page that I recognized
the 'enter' button so it's not immediately apparent to the viewer that it's just the enter
page.
3. Homepage- Once I had clicked the 'enter' button there was suddenly
flashes from the film, which I wasn't expecting so it does have quite a
strong effective on the viewer as it made me scared and shocked. Then
on the page there is a blurred image of the scream mask and behind as
the background is pictures of scream's victims. Accompanied by this is
some eerie sounds and a phone ringing.
Page Contents: About, cast/crew, media, downloads, victims
4. Colour Palette- A specific colour palette has been chosen and the
colours are black, grey, white and red, the main reasons for these
colours are that it represents horror and links in with the poster.
About the images- The homepage consists of two different sets of
photos the scream mask and then a variety of small images which is
screams victims. I think they have done this to set a tone for the
film, they are trying to sell it and emphasis the horror.
Promotion- There was a small advert for the DVD release however on
the main website there was not a poster for the film which is unusual
for such a mainstream film
Examples of Interactivity/Flash- On the homepage when you put the
mouse over the images it circles them and put's an 'X' over the top to
signify death
