As with most agencies, the majority of LSC Digital’s challenges stem from the needs of

One client in particular, D Magazine, called on the agency to help with a deeper dive into
the demographics of its email contacts, particularly birthdays. Not only did it need to cap-
ture this data to launch a birthday program and provide a more personalized experience
for readers, but it wanted to increase overall database demographics for use in its online
advertising sales programs.

D Magazine used the platform to design its D Magazine BirthdayClub campaign, as well as cor-
responding emails that encourage subscribers to share additional demographic information,
such as gender and the presence of children within the home, through the offering of an online

THE RESULTS
D Magazine saw tremendous results from its birthday program campaign, including a 193
percent increase in contacts with birthdays in its database, as well as a 761 percent increase in
the number of contacts who had shared data on “presence of children.” In addition, its birthday
emails tallied an average open rate of 56 percent.
The magazine’s advertising staff was able to pass the critical demographic information to its ad-
vertisers.The resulting increase in redemption caused one advertiser (See’sCandies) to observe,
“The redemption rate is greater than any of our other online-to-offline coupon efforts via the
email channel.”
By providing a closed-loop solution for its clients, LSC Digital has been able to enhance its
clients’ digital marketing efforts and nurturing programs.As the agency grows, it plans on
