THE COMPANY
LSC Digital is a management-consulting firm that uses a combination of data, media and

provides customer acquisition and retention solutions that leverage data, media and the
latest marketing technologies.The company offers Big Data solutions, database market-
ing, marketing analytics, intelligent media marketing automation and campaign execution
to both B2B and B2C companies of all sizes.
Combining more than 30 years of digital and direct marketing expertise, the agency offers
a large marketing skillset in a boutique setting. It views client relationships and the impor-
tance of great account management as the keystones to its approach and continues to

THE CHALLENGE
As with most agencies, the majority of LSC Digital’s challenges stem from the needs of
its clients, typically centered on achieving a high ROI while still meeting their marketing
goals, as well as finding the ability to truly target the correct audience for each client.
One client in particular, D Magazine, called on the agency to help with a deeper dive into
the demographics of its email contacts, particularly birthdays. Not only did it need to cap-
ture this data to launch a birthday program and provide a more personalized experience
for readers, but it wanted to increase overall database demographics for use in its online
advertising sales programs.
THE SOLUTION

“We feelSilverpop’s behavioral marketing capabilities are the reason for such high levels of
engagement throughout the campaigns we have managed for various clients,” saysColeman.
The agency team now implementsSilverpop Engage’s automated emails and programs to
reduce resource costs for its clients.These run the gamut from simple auto responders to more
complex drip campaigns that run over the course of many months.
D Magazine used the platform to design its D Magazine BirthdayClub campaign, as well as cor-
responding emails that encourage subscribers to share additional demographic information,
such as gender and the presence of children within the home, through the offering of an online

THE RESULTS
D Magazine saw tremendous results from its birthday program campaign, including a 193
percent increase in contacts with birthdays in its database, as well as a 761 percent increase in
the number of contacts who had shared data on “presence of children.” In addition, its birthday
emails tallied an average open rate of 56 percent.
The magazine’s advertising staff was able to pass the critical demographic information to its ad-
vertisers.The resulting increase in redemption caused one advertiser (See’sCandies) to observe,
“The redemption rate is greater than any of our other online-to-offline coupon efforts via the
email channel.”
