•   A risk factor in diabetes, gall bladder disease, heart
    disease/stroke, hypertension, osteoarthritis, sleep
    apnea and some forms of cancer

Sedentary Behavior
•   Over 60% of 9-13 year olds do not participate in any
    organized physical activity outside of school

Economic Burdens
•   Obesity costs $147 billion in medical bills in the U.S .
•   Will cost $344 billion in 10 years (21% of health care
    spending) if current trends continue
