Meet the Teacher – Kirsty CourtMeet the Teacher – Kirsty Court
 This is my fifth year of teaching.
 I have been at Wattle Grove since
graduating from ECU.
 I was an Education Assistant for 8 years
prior to completing my teaching degree.
 I have 3 children (18, 16, and 10).
 I was re-married in 2015, hence the name
change.
Meet the Teacher – Kirsty CourtMeet the Teacher – Kirsty Court
I believe every child can
achieve. My job is to ensure they
reach their full potential.
Every child matters to me,
everyday!
Meet the Teacher – Kirsty CourtMeet the Teacher – Kirsty Court
I believe I am open, honest and
approachable.
Whilst I believe in an open door
policy, if you require a longer
meeting, making an
appointment is preferable. I am
available most afternoons.

Prompt Arrival Time:
Please ensure your child arrives before 8:45am
(door opens at 8.30).
This gives them time to prepare for the day and
settle in before the bell goes.
It gives me time to assist with reading or areas of
need.
This helps students become organised and
independent.
Children need to collect their ‘Book Box’ and read
or finish any incomplete tasks (Work Alert).

 Vacations during the school term are discouraged
and can significantly impact the continuity of your
child’s learning.

OPTIONS:
•Study ladder
•Times tables
Homework will be given and
each Monday and due Friday
HomeworkHomework
• Students are expected to read daily
(even on the weekends if possible!) for
about10 minutes. Please record this in
their Motivation Book, which is brought
to school daily.
• It is crucial to develop your child’s
reading that you ask them
comprehension questions after
reading.
HomeworkHomework
As part of WGPS commitment to improve our Literacy
results we have introduced a new program called VCOP
V – Vocabulary C – Connectives O – Openers
P - Punctuation.
Each Wednesday, your child will bring home a
writing stimulus (We call this Talk Homework).
Together, you need to discuss the stimulus and
get their ideas flowing. On the stimulus will be
some sample questions. The following day,
they will share their discussions with the class.
The point of this exercise is to talk and build
ideas and vocabulary. Student DO NOT write
anything down it is purely a talking exercise.
Homework - SpellingHomework - Spelling
New words entered in on the weekly
Motivation Sheet each Monday.
Please practise these words each night
using the daily schedule in their
Motivation Book. Children are familiar
with these activities.
Motivation Books need to be returned
each day.
Spelling test will be in dictation and be
done on the Monday.
Homework - MathsHomework - Maths
Wednesday Word Problems are sent
home on Tuesday night and must be
returned to school the next day.
Our class uses CUBES as a problem solving
method.
There is also a maths component on the
weekly Motivation Sheet, revising content
taught during the week.
BirthdaysBirthdays
Birthdays are an important event in the
lives of children and I encourage
celebration.
Some children like to bring a cake to class
to share with their
friends, however, if possible please send
cupcakes as they are much easier to give
out. I always give these at the end of the
day so that parents can make a
judgement.
Parent HelpParent Help
Parent assistance in the classroom can help enrich the
classroom program. If our class needs parent volunteers at
any stage during the year I will put a notice up on the class
blog and outside the classroom.

Please sign in at the front office when you are coming into
the classroom as a parent helper. This ensures our
administration is informed about exactly who is in the school
in case of an emergency. Parents who wish to help in the
classroom also need to complete a Statutory Declaration
form at the office each year.
Parent CommunicationParent Communication
It is very important that teachers and parents work together
as a team to create the best possible outcomes for all
students. Please help us by following up on any notes and
homework that may have been given out.
It is also imperative that you feel comfortable to
communicate any concerns or queries to me. I am
available for meetings, by appointment, before or after
school, except for Tuesday
afternoons.
Our class blog contains any important
messages and information about our
class programs.
Thank you!Thank you!
Thank you for your time.
I am looking forward to fantastic
year in Room 22!

Each Wednesday, your child will bring home a writing stimulus (We call this Talk Homework). Together, you need to discuss the stimulus and get their ideas flowing. • 25. BirthdaysBirthdays Birthdays are an important event in the lives of children and I encourage celebration. Some children like to bring a cake to class to share with their friends, however, if possible please send cupcakes as they are much easier to give out. I always give these at the end of the day so that parents can make a judgement.
  • 26. Parent HelpParent Help Parent assistance in the classroom can help enrich the classroom program. If our class needs parent volunteers at any stage during the year I will put a notice up on the class blog and outside the classroom.   Please sign in at the front office when you are coming into the classroom as a parent helper. This ensures our administration is informed about exactly who is in the school in case of an emergency. Parents who wish to help in the classroom also need to complete a Statutory Declaration form at the office each year.
  • 27. Parent CommunicationParent Communication It is very important that teachers and parents work together as a team to create the best possible outcomes for all students. Please help us by following up on any notes and homework that may have been given out. It is also imperative that you feel comfortable to communicate any concerns or queries to me. I am available for meetings, by appointment, before or after school, except for Tuesday afternoons. Our class blog contains any important messages and information about our class programs.
