2. SEWING NEEDLES
A sewing needle for hand-sewing is a long
slender tool with a pointed tip at one end and a
hole or eye at the other.
3. SEWING PINS
are used to hold fabric together prior to sewing. They
temporarily hold the fabric in place when attaching and
cutting patterns, or while sewing. They are best to use with
a machine because they are easy to remove quickly as you
sew.
4. THREADS
A long, thin strand of cotton, nylon, or other fibers
used in sewing or weaving.
5. PINCUSHION
A small stuffed cushion, typically 3-5 cm across, which
is used in sewing to store pins or needles with their
heads protruding to take hold of them easily collect
them and keep them organized.
6. TAPE MEASURE
A tape measure or measuring tape is flexible ruler
and used to measure distance. It consists of a ribbon
of cloth, plastic, fiber or glass.
7. TAILORâS CHALK
A hard chalk or soapstone used in tailoring and
dressmaking for making fabric.
8. ROTARY CUTTER
Is a tool generally used by quilters to cut fabric. It consists of a
handle with a circular blade that rotates. Several layers of fabric
can be cut simultaneously with a sharp (fresh) blade, making it
easier to cut out patchwork pieces of the same shape and size
than with scissors.
9. SCISSORS
Are used for cutting various thin materials, such as paper,
cardboard, clothes, metal foil, cloth, rope, and wire.
10. THREADS CLIPPERS
Are a handy little spring loaded cutting tool that
allows for the snipping of threads.
11. BODKIN
Is a handy sewing tool that acts like a tweezer to
draw elastic, cording, etc. through tubing and casing.
12. FRENCH CURVE
This is used to shape the depth of the neck
hole and armhole of the pattern.
