Cultural Differences

  China ?
Cultural differences
• Cultural differences affect communication in a variety of ways.
• For example, in one country it is accustom to stand in meetings whereas in another
country it is rude to stand and you must sit down formally in meetings
• Another example could be different words and signs are acceptable in different
countries. They may be misunderstood so you may choose to use different words or
gestures from the ones you usually use
Adapting voice and words
• You may have to adapt your voice and words to communicate
successfully. For example, if you tend to talk fast you may need to
slow down when you speak or try to speak more clearly.
• You may also need to change the words you use when speaking. For
example, if the person is from another country they may not
understand what you are or saying or what the words you are using
  mean.

  to a large audience.
• You may also need to use technology when addressing a
audience. For example, you could use a PowerPoint
presentation when your talking to a audience.

communicate with someone who is deaf.
Question 4
• Which of these mean hello in sign language ?

•

Question 8

Dear Sir/Madam

Oi you !
Sentence Structure/identifying
relevance.
• Sentence structure is very important when wanting to
communicate successfully. For example, if you use commas
when writing a sentence it will be more easier to read and to
  communicate more successfully.
• Identifying relevant material is also important to
communication. For example, if you wish to talk to someone
about a specific passage in a book you could identify this by
the title or the chapter name
Proof-Reading/ Alternative
Viewpoints
• Proof-Reading is also important to communicating
successfully. For example, if something is spelt wrong than you
may not be able to do read it properly and communication
could break down. This is why it is important to proof read.
• Alternative Viewpoints are also important to communication.
For example, if people consider other people`s viewpoints
than communication will be more successful.
Note Taking/Capitalisation
• Note Taking is also important to communication. For
example, if you take notes when having a important discussion
with someone this would help communication as you can
refer to the notes after the discussion.
• Capitalisation is also very important to communication. For
example, if sentences are separated using a comma then they
can read far more easier and communication will be a lot
  more successfully.
