Catermasters is an independently-owned business that has been at
the forefront of the contract catering industry for 25 years.
We know exactly what it takes to cook delicious food and to deliver
outstanding food and service on a national scale. We take great

Nigel is an optimistic, driven and innovative
managing director and he is proud to lead
from the front. While some foodservice
providers have struggled in recent years, Nigel’s
leadership skills have guided Catermasters to
continued growth and a continued increased
turnover.
Nigel has been keen to enhance the customer
experience at every turn. He is a great believer in
hosting regular themed promotions and encourages
the Catermasters sites to put on fun, fresh and attractive
customer events. He even‘goes back to the floor’at
various times during the year to help deliver these
events.
He is a firm believer in talent development and
continues to play a leading role in the nurturing of raw
talent through the Catermasters Chef’s Academy and last
year’s investment in the initiative took the total spend
to more than £100,000. But with more Chefs joining and
graduating – taking the total number to 25 over four
years – Nigel views this investment as money well spent.

Tony joined Catermasters in 1996 as their
first Operations Manager and has been
instrumental in the continued growth and
exceptionally strong client relationships that
the company enjoys.
Tony understands how important customer service is,
not only in the financial performance of each contract,
but in keeping the customers loyal and excited by our
services. Just like Nigel, Tony spends most of his time
mentoring the operations teams and visiting client sites
to ensure that we deliver on our promises.
He also oversaw the introduction of a Catermasters
mobile App. This successful added value initiative
enhances communication, increases speed of service,
allows customers to view menus, promotions and also
claim loyalty points electronically.

At Catermasters, Food is Everything. We have a set of core values
that everyone believes in and proudly embraces to ensure our food
is consistently the best. Our approach to the ingredients we use, the

it’s what gives us our unique personality and enables people outside
Catermasters to clearly understand what makes us tick and what

7. Ingredients
We only use the best ingredients that are right
for each site. We use these ingredients to cook
food that is delicious, wholesome, rewarding
and fun for the people that eat it.
Our food story
We have strict standards about the quality
of the ingredients we use. There is no room
for compromise. They must be fresh, tasty
and attractive to find their way into one of
our kitchens and everyone in our team is
passionate about the position we adopt and
the standards we set.
Our suppliers
We love using local produce because it tastes
great and we believe it’s important to support
our local suppliers. We go out of our way
to hunt down local suppliers that share our
beliefs about food quality and we visit them
regularly to sample their produce and talk
about their offering.
Because we care
We are great believers in using produce and
products that make a difference. Some of the
initiatives we have proudly embraced include
using Free Range eggs in all of our sites,
offering a wide range of Fairtrade drinks and
snacks, using Freedom foods, only stocking
‘One Water’ bottled water in every site and
using a network of discerning local suppliers
for many of our ingredients.

We only employ people that have a passion
for working with food, are enthusiastic about
their work and understand the importance of
cooking food that is honest and credible
Training and development
We are proud to employ a hugely talented
team of people. But we recognise the skills of
today need to be carefully developed to ensure
they can be used in the foodservice industry of
tomorrow and into the future. We continually
invest in staff training and also run a very
successful Chef’s Academy to nurture our talent
of the future. We’ve also held the Investors In
People accreditation for a decade.
Sunday Times Top 100
In the most recent Times Top 100 Best
Companies survey, we were awarded a two-
star Best Companies accreditation and named
inside the Top 100 medium-sized companies
to work for.

9. Customers
We believe our customers have a right to
be entertained through appealing and tasty
food. We only use food ingredients that are
fresh, often locally sourced, and tasty. By
being innovative with ingredients, our food
stands out.
Understanding our customers
To ensure we are totally customer focused,
we work hard to fully understand their
requirements. We regularly undertake internal
research through data gathered on our tills,
we analyse why some customers choose not
to use our restaurants and what we can do to
change that, and we also study High Street
trends and adapt them to suit our sites.
Communication
Customers need to know what food is
available and when it’s being served. If they
don’t, they can’t enjoy our service. One of
the tools we employ to guarantee strong
communication with customers is our
bespoke Catermasters App. It can be used
for many things including viewing menus,
ordering meals in advance and leaving
feedback about our service.
