SHOEMAKE ARRIVES AS BIRMINGHAM FA CEO
The future of the Birmingham CountyFA is quite literallyin safe hands, followingthe arrival of
KevinShoemake as the Association’snew ChiefExecutive Officer.
Shoemake,aformerprofessional goalkeeper withover700 appearancesunderhisbeltacrossspells
withLeytonOrient, PeterboroughUnited,KetteringTown,NuneatonBorough andRushden&
Diamonds,takescharge havingservedasChief Executive of the Northamptonshire CountyFA since
2011.
Duringthat time,Shoemake oversawsignificantdevelopmentinthe grassrootsgame withinthe
county;buildingayoung,dynamicFootball Operations teamanddrivingnew andexistingformatsof
the game whilstoverseeingarecord-breakingyearforthe Northamptonshire CountyFA
commercially,followingthe signingof anumberof sponsorshipagreementswithcompaniesintegral
to the local community.
Shoemake succeedsChadEhlertsen,whospenttwoyearsasChief Executive Officeratthe
BirminghamCountyFA priorto beingacceptingthe role of SeniorRegionalManager(SouthWest
and WestMidlands) withThe Football Association.
The 51-year-old– alsoa UEFA B qualifiedcoachandFA Tutor – will now be chargedwithoverseeing
the excellentworkof Ehlertsenthrough the developmentof the grassrootsgame withinthe
BirminghamCountyboundary;workingalongside the existingFootball DevelopmentandOperations
teamat theirRayHall Lane headquarters tocarry out the CountyFA’slocal Four-YearStrategy.
Speakingabouthisappointment,Shoemake said:“I’mdelightedtohave arrivedatthe Birmingham
CountyFA.
“I am aware of howimportantthe developmentof grassrootsfootball is;bothforthe game itself
and forthose whoplay,supportor volunteeratleaguesandclubs,aswell asthe impactit has on
healthandwellbeing.Ihave inheritedafantastichigh-performingteamof staff here atthe
BirminghamCountyFA andtogetherIam confidentthatwe can significantlygrow andpromote the
game and what we do, withinacountythat has a richand passionate football heritage.
“I want to helpbuildstrong,positiverelationshipswithall of ourstakeholders;whethertheybe
clubs, leagues,playersorvolunteers.Asanorganisation, we have astrongcustomer-centricethos
