Join PSGCNJ’s
Talent Network!
When it comes to your next job, how do you make the phone ring…or your inbox light up?
Well, here’s the answer: The Professional Service Group of Central New Jersey has created the PSGCNJ Career
Center, which is operated by a volunteer committee that builds relationships with employers and recruiters and
promotes YOU!!!
This free member service allows you to create a candidate profile and submit it into the Talent Network. A
candidate profile is a short, professional bio that tells employers “who you are” and succinctly “what unique
value you provide” in addition to a paragraph of background information. The profiles end with your email
address so employers can contact you directly – avoiding any middlemen.
PSGCNJ’s “Members At-Large,” a.k.a. employed members, and “Active Members,” a.k.a. professionals in
transition who work on a committee, are eligible for inclusion into the Talent Network.
What are the components of the candidate profile?
A PSGCNJ Candidate Profile must include your six-digit ID number and your title in bold. (If you are not sure
about your ID number, check with Dirk Graham on the Membership Committee at dirkhg@comcast.net.)
Next, you need a first-person branding statement that communicates your value in the marketplace.
Then, write a brief bio in third-person, using three to five sentences. And don’t forget your email address
at the end.
What is a personal branding statement?
A personal branding statement is a catchphrase or slogan that captures the essence of your unique value
in the workplace.
How do I develop this statement?
Ask yourself these questions: What are my top three business attributes? What have others said about my
attributes? (Hint: Read your own LinkedIn endorsements and look for reoccurring themes.) What unique
values/skills do I bring to the workplace? Am I targeting a specific industry?
Can I see a sample Candidate Profile bio with a personal branding statement?
