1. What are the General Data
Protection Regulations (GDPR)?
The General Data
Protection Regulations
will replace the current
Data Protection Act from
25th May 2018.
Companies have had
from 24th May 2016
to prepare for the new
regulations.
The regulations
will be enforced by
the Information
Commissioners
Office (ICO).
Any company that collects,
stores, processes, or
utilises data on individuals
(including staff) will have to
comply with the regulations.
The regulations will
provide greater rights
to individuals (data
subjects) on how
their information
(data) is collected,
used, stored,
transferred and
disposed of.
Fines will be applied to
companies who don’t
comply up to a maximum
of £17,000,000 or 4% of
their turnover, whichever
is higher.
