You won’t find snapshots of playful kittens, old barns or dewy spiderwebs in this exhibit. What you will
find is a wonderful collection of alternative photographs that have been scratched, scraped and purposely
damaged to produce rich textures and distorted shapes. The a.k.a. photography exhibit is designed to keep these artists
distracted and off the streets.

Some images are simple manipulations using common tools like a spoon or paper clip to create a painterly
effect on the emulsion. Others exude a quality reminiscent of a charcoal drawing, or, watercolor. A few
are computer altered masterpieces likely created by a guy in his parent’s dark basement (we don’t ask questions).
