According to statistics, over 3.6 billion people use smartphones globally, with over 1.56 billion being active social media users. Smartphones are the dominant device for accessing social media. Every minute, thousands of photos, videos, blog posts and other content are uploaded to major social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. In Bangladesh, social media played a key role in events like the 2013 Shahbag protests, by allowing people to share information, petition, and raise awareness. Common social media platforms have more male than female users, and people generally spend the most time on Facebook and Pinterest, while LinkedIn sees the shortest visits. Nearly half of all social media users are aged 18-24
