- Technology rapidly changing the workforce The kinds of content focussed skills that are in most cases currently been taught in schools right now are also those that are easiest to digitise, automate and outsource. Education thus needs to become much more about ways of thinking, involving creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making; about ways of working, including communicating and collaborating; about tools for working, including the capacity to recognise and exploit the potential of new technologies; and about the character qualities that help people live and work together. Students as content creators rather than consumers The students of today and tomorrow need to not only be able to solve problems but they need to identify problems and create innovative ways of addressing them. These are entrepreneurial skills We see in the developed world our production industry move offshore for cost saving now we are now seeing our service and creative industries moving offshore. We have to be more innovative because technology is making the world a more even playing field. We have to compete in a increasingly globalised workplace. Gap? The developing world is about to leapfrog the developed nations in use of technology. Systems are so rigid and entrenched they utilise new tech quickly. The education system is trying to catch up rather lead. Innovation is key. How do we prepare our students for this rapidly changing world?
- We have an incredible advantage because we are becoming at the forefront of 21st century Learning - but we are also disadvantaged because low enrolments mean that there is also a lack of funding for initiatives such as student exchange programs etc.

- Connection - was the common thread in all of the above - technology is for that and learning is increased through that.
- I wanted to find ways to use technology for peer to peer learning (both teacher and student level) and I wanted to learn how to do this not just within my own school such as you would use Google Classroom for, I wanted to find out how to connect globally and with China. Leading for social change through global connections
- Talk about fire wall in the NSW education department and China. We had to have a mix of synchronous and asynchronous tools that go together. E.g. a Realtime session and one where the students could go online and collaborate. Talk about different time zones.
