Pipeline Abandonment Project
1. Pipeline Abandonment Project
Aussie Enviro was hired to undertake pipeline abandonment activities in a manner that
meets our stakeholder’s expectations.
We managed a large scale pipeline abandonment through the removal of 180km of oil
overflow pipe in south west Queensland. Included in the project was the cutting of the
pipeline into manageable sections using a 25 tonne excavator with grapple attachment
and a 35 tonne excavator with shear attachment. After shearing the pipe it was loaded
by dozer onto a prime mover and removed from site to an approved waste facility.
Additionally, a 14 tonne excavator, dozer, large posi track skid steer loader and body
truck were used for final site clean-up and to return it to its useful state.
For the project Aussie Enviro acquired two specialised attachments: Shears for the
cutting of the pipeline and a grapple for holding the pipe during shearing and loading
into the body truck for relocation.
Aussie Enviro was able to remediate the pipeline sites back to a safe, stable and non-
polluting state and compatible with the intended post-closure land use.
TESTIMONIAL:
“…. thank you for the hard work that you guys have done to keep the project running,
you have helped out amazingly on every request we have had. Your crews haven’t
missed a beat and working with Wayne as the supervisor has made all the paperwork
and day to day organisation as easy as it could possibly be. Hope that we get to work
together again in the future.
Cheers
