Karinne and to whom it may concern,
Karinne worked as the on-site USACE (US Army Corps of Engineers) Construction
Representative at the Miami VA Hospital facility renovation and expansion. These projects were
performed upon an actively occupied hospital – therefore close coordination was required with
the Hospital Facilities Engineering Department and General Contractor.
Some of her additional duties included submittal reviews, Change Order evaluations, General
Contractor’s monthly draw request review, daily Safety and QA/QC inspections of the work. As
the onsite Building Code Compliance Inspector, she afforded the Contractor the ability to have
both partial and complete system inspections upon installed materials. Routine coordination
with the Facilities Engineering Department included – utility outages, area access, hot work
permits, crane operations notifications / authorizations, and off shift work hours. These off shift
working hours required Karinne to adjust her work day – often on short notice from the General
Contractor. All actions required documentation and weekly field activity reports to be submitted
to the USACE customer.
The Miami VA Hospital client proved to be a very difficult client and Karinne was instrumental in
smoothing out their issues and keeping them satisfied. The USACE PE (Project Engineer)
resided in Orlando and made infrequent site visits to Miami, so Karinne was the primary point of
contact between the VA Hospital and USACE.
Karinne was a valuable asset to the successful completion of the multiple projects performed at
this facility. Her hard work and dedication to the project are greatly appreciated.
