Good Stuff Happens in 1:1 Meetings: Why you need them and how to do them well
Kara's Presentation
1. Hi, I’m Kara I am a 22-year-old recent college graduate with an interest in current events, politics and culture.
2. I graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston, MA in May, 2010. At Emmanuel, I pursued my love of politics and current events by majoring in political science and joining the Emmanuel College Model United Nation club, which I later became president of.
3. In 2008, I began interning at the Massachusetts State House. Between 2008 and 2010, I interned with the Judicial Nominating Commission, Senator Steve Tolman and the Governor’s Council.
4. After interning at the Massachusetts State House, I decided it was time for me to gain experience in other fields. After hear great things about their intern program, I applied to be a public relations intern at O’Neill and Associates.
5. At O’Neill and Associates, I was lucky enough to be paired with two amazing mentors. I learned skills such as how to create a media list and write a press release. I also worked at various events and sat in on meetings with clients.
6. In February, 2010, I was introduced to an incredible start-up based in Cambridge called Her Campus. Her Campus is an online magazine written exclusively by college girls. I started a branch of Her Campus at Emmanuel College. I was responsible for writing and editing six articles a week, as well as publicizing my branch.
7. Upon graduation, I decided that I wanted to gain more experience in the public relations field. I began interning with Her Campus and became their social media expert. Since starting my internship, I have attended numerous seminars and webinars about social media.
8. What I Can Offer You As an enthusiastic college grad, I can offer your company insight into the minds of the younger generation and the latest social media tools. I’ve worked at a small start-up where I worked closely with the founders of the company and worked on my own large projects. I’ve also worked in larger offices where my work was part of bigger projects. I thrive in any work environment and under any management style.
9. When I’m Not Working… I love to try new recipes, run, practice yoga and travel. I have been lucky enough to travel to have traveled to Antigua, France, Guatemala, Hungary, Italy, India, Oman, Russia, and the UK.
