This presentation is my first upload to test slideshare. I made this presentation to briefly talk about the exponential growth of technology and how it will impact careers in the emerging fourth industrial revolution. I am optimistic that with proper awareness, each one of us can be well informed about the educational measures to take to sharpen or enhance our skills to adapt to new professional or even personal environments. I hope that this presentation will motivate you to re-consider your position and take action. Thank you,
2. What is Artificial
Intelligence?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is
an area of computer
science that emphasizes
the creation of intelligent
machines that work and
react like humans. Some of
the activities computers are
1. Speech recognition
2. Learning
3. Planning
4. Problem solving

3. Should we be worried about the emergence of
the fourth industrial revolution?
AI is going to the change the
world more than anything in
the history of mankind.
Technological development
has major implications for
labour markets. It is
predicted that artificial
intelligence will automate and
potentially eliminate 40
percent of jobs within 15
years.
Thus, assessing its impact
will be crucial for developing
and promoting efficient labour
markets for the benefit of
workers, employers and
societies as a whole.
4. Industrial Revolutions 1 to
4.
Another distinction between now and the past is the speed of
technological progress, which is exponential.
We refer to this revolution as Industry 4.0 after the 3 previous
Industrial revolutions
1. The invention of the steam machine, the mechanization of manual
work in the 18th, Industry 1.0.
2. The emergence of mass production in the 19th, Industry 2.0.
3. The manufacturing automation through computer technology in
the 20th century, Industry 3.0.
6. Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on
professions.
Technological innovations can
affect employment in two
main ways:
1. By directly displacing
workers from tasks they
were previously performing
(displacement effect)
2. By increasing the demand
for labour in industries or
jobs that arise or develop
due to technological
progress (productivity
effect).
7. Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on
professions.
1. The number of high-education
jobs is growing.
2. The number of middle-
education jobs s declining.
3. By contrast, the number of
low-education service
occupations is growing.
8. Jobs that will be lesser in demand in the
future.
Robot automation and A.I. will take 800 million jobs by 2030.
Mortgage brokers, Retail and customer interaction jobs (Mc
Donald’s) , Paralegals, Assembly line manufacturing, Accountants,
Warehouse workers (Amazon), Soldiers and pilots, Back-office
staff, Customer service and office assistants, Taxi, ride-hailing, and
delivery drivers.
9. Jobs less likely to be affected negatively
by AI.
Gardening, Plumbing , Care work, Massage therapists, Morticians,
Undertakers, animal scientists, Funeral directors, Archaeologists,
Child care, Creative artists, Judgeship, Language interpretation,
Management, Journalism, Chef level food preparation.
10. Jobs more likely to be in demand due to
A.I.
Jobs requiring human interaction such as
Doctors, surgeons, Therapists, Psychiatrists, Psychologists,
Lawyers, Teachers, Bartenders, Health care workers, operation
managers, operations team leaders.
11. Jobs that will be created due to A.I.
Machines and algorithms in the workplace are expected
to create 133 million new roles according to a new report
from the World Economic Forum (WEF)
Data detective, Bring-your-own IT facilitator, Ethical sourcing
officer, Artificial intelligence business development manager,
Master of edge computing, Walker/talker, Fitness commitment
counsellor, A.I. assisted health care technician, Cyber city
analyst, Genomic portfolio director, Man-machine teaming
manager, Financial wellness coach, Digital tailor, Chief trust
officer, Quantum machine-learning analyst, Virtual store sherpa,
Personal data broker, Augmented-reality journey builder,
Highway controller, Genetic diversity officer.
12. Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on
professions.
AI--for all its "intelligence"--
doesn't have the one quality
that makes us uniquely
human. Emotion.
AI is incapable of building
trust between two people (or
between customers and a
company). It cannot inspire
teamwork, show passion or
exhibit empathy because it
has no imagination.
13. Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on
professions.
Emotional Intelligence or
Emotional Quotient becomes
a key factor for jobs in the
future.
As much as complex
reasoning, creativity, social
and sensory perception.
14. Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on
professions.
Empathy isn't just a buzzword. It's the key to succeeding as a
leader in the age of AI.
Leadership is about emotions. Great leaders are exquisitely attuned
to others' emotions.
Neurobiology studies which show that most people have a
preference for leaders who above all else express empathy and
compassion. Empathetic leaders recognize the feelings of other
people and respond appropriately.
15. Leaders Have an Edge in the Age of AI
The jobs of the future will require creative, compassionate, and
empathetic leaders who create trust, build teams, inspire service,
and communicate effectively.
People don't want to listen to robots making speeches, leading the
company, or giving pep talks. Nor do they want a robot to do tasks
like teachers and nurses. We will end up with the inevitable
outcome that large numbers of routine jobs will be eliminated and
large numbers of empathetic jobs will be created."
16. Robot Density
Robot density is a
measurement that tracks the
number of robots per 10,000
workers in an industry.
18. The transition
The transition could be very painful. A period of high unemployment
if we don’t adequately prepare.
Plus we are still using an education system that is geared for
Industrial age.
