    1906, using wood carving as a
    template

   They liked woodcuts for the
    plain, crude forms in it.
 In 1910 the group moved to
  Berlin, where they were
  confronted with the modern
  urbanity of the city.
 They wanted to challenge the
  traditional style of arts, which
  was impressionism now.
 As opposed to Impressionism, art
  came from within the artist, came
  from what they were
  feeling, rather than observing
  objects.
 Putting the spirit back into
  modern art, which they felt had
  gone astray.
 Founder  of Die Brücke
 He was influenced by
  Vincent Van Gogh and
  Edvard Munch
 Known for his Berlin
  Street Scenes
