You can search for patents in Vietnam using the following three databases:

This Search #1 is the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam's Online Register. Since March 2020, the

(ii) Search # 2: An online tool powered by WIPO
This online has been recently built as a result of mutual cooperation between the IP Office of Vietnam
(IP Vietnam) and WIPO. Since February 2020, the application database has been regularly updated
for Search #2 only. Search #2 provides the information of Vietnamese applications in a more detailed
and systematic manner. It is well designed to facilitate the search of applications already filed in
Vietnam.
The database of Search #2 is more complete and accurate. Therefore, you are recommended to
use Search #2.

OSRAM GmbH (“the plaintiff”) is a worldwide lighting manufacturer with headquarters in Munich, Germany. The plaintiff is the proprietor of a Vietnam-protected series of OSRAM trademarks for lighting apparatus, particularly electric lamps and luminaires; parts of the aforementioned items; light-emitting diode lamp modules. The plaintiff discovered that the disputed domain names <osram.com.vn> and osram.vn> (“Disputed Domain Names”) were registered in 2014 by a natural person in Vietnam, N.D.T. ("the defendant") and resolved to the defendant's active websites. The websites under the Disputed Domain Names promoted and offered for sale the plaintiff's "OSRAM"-branded products. The plaintiff detected that two ccTLD <osram.com.vn> and <osram.vn> (“Disputed Domain Names”) were registered in 2014 by a natural person in Vietnam, N.D.T (“the defendant”) and were resolved to the defendant’s active websites. The websites under the Disputed Domain Names were promoting and offering for sale of the plaintiff’s products bearing the “OSRAM” mark. In support of infringement allegation, the plaintiff filed a request to the Vietnam Intellectual Property Research Institute (“VIPRI”) for obtaining the assessment conclusion on trademark infringement who was then issued in favour of the plaintiff. The plaintiff also proceeded with documenting the evidence of infringement under a Bailiff office.

The ASEAN Patent Examination Cooperation (ASPEC) program is a regional patent cooperation program in Southeast Asia that allows patent applicants to request accelerated patent examination in participating ASEAN member states (“AMS”). It aims to improve the efficiency and quality of patent examination among participating ASEAN member state's intellectual property Offices (“AMS IP Offices”) by sharing search and examination (S&E) results. Under the ASPEC program, patent applicants can submit a request for accelerated examination of a patent application in a participating AMS IP Office (“second IP Office”) based on a S&E reports issued by another participating AMS IP Office (“first IP Office”) on the corresponding application. The program aims to improve the efficiency and quality of patent examination in the region by facilitating the sharing of patent S&E results among participating AMS IP Offices.
