Primary Responsibilities
Create efficient, imaginative and sophisticated solutions for front-end software feature requests.
Develop high-quality code following established development processes.
Provide informed, innovative recommendations regarding the use of JSP/HTML/CSS/DHTML and Flash to meet a variety of
business needs.
Take static Flash files from graphic designers and reconstruct as needed to work with dynamic data.
Function as liaison between graphic design and software development teams to ensure accurate implementation of specified
design and functionality.
Assess the technical feasibility of proposed functional designs.
Evaluate workflow diagrams and initial mock-ups; make technology recommendations that support optimal construction,
maintenance and performance.
Estimate the time needed to complete development phase of projects.
Keep abreast of the latest developments in Internet technologies.
Required Skills
A college degree or equivalent experience.
3-6 years of web development experience in a software development environment, interactive agency, design firm or Web-
publishing environment.
Strong communication skills (interpersonal, written and verbal).
Expert-level chops hand-coding HTML 3.2 and up.
Advanced proficiency with cross-browser/platform CSS, DHTML and JavaScript.
Experience using JavaScript libraries like jQuery, Dojo Toolkit or script.aculo.us.
Familiarity with JSP or related technology (ASP or PHP) and some knowledge of Java.
Familiarity with Apache Struts or similar MVC framework.
Intermediate-level Flash and ActionScript.
Basic Photoshop skills.
Working knowledge of version control systems (Perforce experience is preferred).
Can work in a structured development environment with build and configuration management tools.
Detail-oriented and able to work independently.
Must Haves:
expert use of CSS -- including table-less designs and a solid understanding of the separation of style and content
expert use of HTML -- including knowledge of the DOM (document object model) and browser box model
expert use of Javascript -- including knowledge of object oriented programming using Javascript and some familiarity with
common Javascript libraries (one or more of jQuery, yui, Ext JS, Dojo Toolkit, script.aculo.us, Prototype, Moo Tools or similar
packages)
expert use of a web page framework -- preferably JSP but PHP and ASP are acceptable if other skills are strong
familiar with coding web sites to work across different browser types and browser versions
ability to code all of the above by hand -- i.e. without relying on code completion tools or WYSIWYG tools like Dreamweaver
Nice to Haves:
JSP and JSTL experience
Experience with the jQuery Javascript libraries
Flash and Actionscript experience
Familiarity with Struts or other MVC framework (e.g. Spring MVC, JSF, Cocoon, Wicket)
Familiarity with Java programming or other OO language like C# or C++
