3. What is Project Lovely?
Project Lovely is the partnership of Luxe Beauty and Lola Boutique. The union began in the
attempt to raise funds and awareness for local, non-profit animal organizations. Today, they are a
fiscal sponsor to both the Fayetteville Animal Shelter and SPAY Arkansas. The primary goal is to raise
awareness of animal adoption and the importance of spaying and neutering your pets. In doing so,
they have started a "project" that encourages community involvement from both individuals and local
businesses.
STRUT FOR A MUTT began in September 2007, soon after Project Lovely was founded.
Animals have always been the loves of their lives, so the choice seemed obvious. Plans were
developed to host a fashion and beauty show that would feature models walking dogs available for
adoption down the runway.
STRUT has proven incredibly successful in providing homes for neglected and abandoned
animals, as well as raising money to benefit those who provide care for them. SPAY Arkansas and the
4. Fayetteville Animal Shelter are held near and dear to Jade, Juliette and Lisa, and all proceeds benefit
the two non-profits. We hope that you will join
in their project and help us make a difference in our local animal community. And set an example of
responsible pet ownership in our global community.
In 2008, STRUT raised several thousand of dollars for the Fayetteville Animal Shelter and was
covered by several local media, including: Celebrate Arkansas, Citiscapes Monthly Metro, 3W
Magazine, KNWA and Power 105.7. The event, with feature entertainment BoomBox, exceeded
expectations and sold out with over 650 tickets and 20 VIP tables occupied.
With such a successful night, plans immediately went underway to find a larger venue for the
following year. SAVOR, an upscale bar and restaurant located in the heart of Fayetteville, was chosen
to be the scene for September, 18th
, 2009—the upcoming STRUT FOR A MUTT benefit. Pepsi/Frito
Lay were the presenting sponsor of the evening and generously donated $5,000 to Project Lovely to
help host the event. STRUT 2009 was covered by 104.9, Power 105.7, KNWA, Celebrate Arkansas,
Citiscapes Monthly Metro and 3W Magazine. 2009 local business sponsors included: SAVOR
Restaurant, Garrison Financial Corporation, The Executive Square, Revlon, Purina, Sugarbear's pet

Local DJay's, Shortfuze and EQ, were chosen to spin the pre-party and fashion show, titled
“THE STRUT.” Following the show, celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson, spun a three hour set to keep the
night going. Over 850 guests were in attendance and the event raised over $10,000 for the
benefiting non-profits. Strut for a Mutt has proven incredibly successful in providing homes for
neglected and abandoned animals, as well as raising money to benefit those who provide care for
them. SPAY Arkansas and the Fayetteville Animal Shelter are held near and dear to Project Lovely, all
proceeds from STRUT will be split between the two.
STRUT 2010 will be held on October 16th at the Starlight Skatium in Downtown Fayetteville.
The board is thrilled to announce that Sarah Colonna from the Chelsea Lately panel will host the pre-

What is SpayArkansas?
Spay Arkansas' mission is to make Arkansas a state where there are no homeless pets
by humanely reducing the population of companion animals with a statewide, low-
cost spay/neuter program.
They have structured their plan on the New Hampshire and Humane Alliance models, both of
which resulted in a decrease of shelter euthanasia by 70% in 10 years. By implementing low cost
spay/neuter programs in our area, we could also reach this statistic.
Arkansas, and the south central region of the United States, has one of the highest rates of
euthanasia per capita in the U.S., resulting in the death of 35 animals per 1000 people. The U.S.
average of 15/1000.
Northwest Arkansas animal shelter euthanasia rates are over 50% and continue to climb each
year. In 2009 over 5,000 homeless animals were euthanized in our community. On average that
about 15 pets euthanized each day.
For nearly a century, no other nation has remotely approached this volume of cat and dog
killing for population control. This might make Arkansas have the dubious distinction of having one
of the highest euthanasia rates in the world! With an effective low-cost spay/neuter program,
every $1 spent in prevention has proven to save $3 in animal control costs. It is a win/win
situation for our community, our pets and our tax dollars.
9. Currently, Spay Arkansas is raising money to establish a low-cost spay/neuter clinic that will
serve Northwest Arkansas. They are getting involved in the legislative process as well, aiming to pass
a law that provides low-cost or free spay/neuter to low income people, similar to New Hampshire's
program.
We ask you to join in our efforts and help Spay Arkansas form a coalition of animal advocates across
Arkansas, becoming a cohesive and powerful voice for those that have no voice. Imagine a state
where nearly every homeless animal got adopted. Where animal rescues had room to intake new
animals. And where there are actually waiting lists for kittens. By spaying and neutering your pets,
