• It’s a business issue, not just an
ethical one
• It can save you money, time
and effort
• It’s not going to go away
11. Why you ‘should’ care
• UK Gov:
– 80% reduction by 2050 on
1990 levels
• Arctic sea ice:
– Melting twice as quickly as
predicted
• Rate of species extinction:
– 100-1,000x higher than
historically ‘normal’
• Temperature rise:
- 5/6ºC warming = ê 5-10%
off global GDP
12. Why it’s worth it
Arts and Culture:
– Have an impact far
beyond their own
footprint
– Enable us to
understand complex
issues

in social change

(purple)
20. Invoices: Water and Sewerage
What to look for:
• Cubic metres (red)
• Date range
(purple)
21. FAQ: Shared office space
You need:
• Square metres (sqm)/feet (sqf) of your office space
• Square metres/feet of entire building
• kWh/m3 for entire building
⇒ Work out percentage of total building space you
occupy
⇒ Use that percentage to estimate just your own usage
from the total
22. Worked example
• You occupy 100 sqm
• Total building is 500 sqm
• You occupy = 100/500 = 20% or 0.20 of total building
Your usage for April 2012 to March 2013:
• Electricity: 0.20*120,000 kWh= 24,000 kWh
• Gas: 0.20* 60,000 kWh = 12,000 kWh
• Water: 0.20*1,200 m3 = 240 m3
