The Background

In future young people won’t have one career –
they will have many over the course of their lives.

It will be more important than ever to think about
presenting themselves effectively – as a ‘brand’.

However, most will need help with this (introducing
the concept and training) and a tool which they can
use throughout their careers to market themselves.
The traditional CV

 An important document in the world of business
 and employment but it hasn’t changed in format for
 many years

 Often dull and poorly written – it is difficult for
 the CV to paint an accurate or compelling picture
 of the individual

 It’s out of touch with the modern online world –
 both in the business and social environment

 We believe the tools are now available to bring us
 into the 21st century and create the modern CV
Vision
 The modern CV is a document about its author – the author
 is saying, “It’s about me”. ‘It’s about me’ – neatly shortens
 to iam so a ‘modern CV’ becomes an ‘iam Profile’

 The iam Profile replaces the CV as the default method
 of supplying personal details about yourself to potential
 employers or others you want to work with

 It is a vehicle which allows an individual to promote their
 personal brand by building an on-line picture of themselves
The concept

 The iam Profile is more than just a replacement for
 a CV, it sits at the centre of a selection of tools and
 training aimed at helping people present themselves
 in a positive light. This will assist them throughout
 their careers as they develop as employees or run
 their own businesses.

 preparing their profile

Assisting in preparing an
iam Profile
It is envisaged that preparation of an iam Profile
could form the basis for future enterprise or
careers days delivered in schools and colleges.

Students would be introduced to the idea of
‘personal branding’ and how the profile can
be used to showcase their skills and experience.
Who needs an
iam Profile?
Virtually everyone who needs employment will
need to produce personal details in the form of
a CV once their full time education ends.

   The CV is the standard solution for this –
   although no one organisation ‘owns’ the CV

   There is lots of advice (often contradictory)
   about how to compile a CV – an iam Profile
   will become a new standard
The CV as a sales tool

 It is said a CV is a sales document – but rarely looks like one!

 When applying for a job, the iam Profile makes the ‘sales pitch’
