2. EARTH SYSTEM
The Earth system refers to Earth ‘s
interacting physical, chemical, and biological
processes.
The system consists of the land, oceans,
atmosphere and poles. It includes the
planet’s natural cycles- the carbon, water,
nitrogen, phosphorus , sulfur and other
cycles –and deep Earth processes
3. EARTH AS A CLOSED SYSTEM
The amount of matter within a closed system is
fixed. This can be illustrated by discussing the
volume of mineral resources a planet has
.Once used up, these mineral resources are
transformed into something else , maintaining
the amount of matter within this closed system.
4. EARTH SUBSYSTEM
Earth is composed of four basic subsystem:
geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and
biosphere. It may be important to note that
humans are not part of the biosphere, and that
human lives depend on the interaction of the
four subsystem.
5. FOUR SUBSYSTEM
1.GEOSPHERE- it is composed of naturally-
occurring solid aggregate of minerals,
organic materials, or natural glass called
rocks, and loose particles of rock that are
found blanketing surface of earth called
regolith.
2.HYDROSPHERE-is the totality of earth’s
water, including the permanently frozen parts
called cryosphere.
6. 3.ATMOSPHERE-is the mixture of gases that
surround the planet such as nitrogen, oxygen,
argon, carbon dioxide, and water vapor.
4. BIOSPHERE-includes all life forms, even
organic matter that has not yet decomposed.
