Trends
                  • According to a recent report from mobile manufacturer Ericsson,
by 2015, 80% accessing the Internet will be
                         doing so from mobile devices.
                  • Consider what it means to read, write,
publish, teach and learn in the new digital
                         age?

Assessment/ Feedback
                   • Eric Mazure suggests that testing itself is
not an indicator of deep learning. We must
go beyond the testing and have students
demonstrate that they own the learning
                         and can apply the knowledge.

Flipped Classroom
                   • Work at home is gaining access to the
                         knowledge (Learning)
                   • Work at school is solving problems with
                         immediate feedback (Process and practise)
                   • “Flow and the optimum experience”
investigates how people learn well and how
they do it. Real time feedback e.g. Music
minus one. Play your part while you listen
to the rest of the orchestra to understand
how you sound with the rest of the
                         orchestra.

Rewriting History
                   • Write a history textbook using wiki to
                         gather information
                   • Students each have their own wiki page to
                         help dev on-line book.
                   • Skype, Podcasts, movies, comics to create
content with other classes and eliminate
                         the need for a textbook

                   • view video at home, ask a question, so that
there’s more 1:1 communication time in
                         the class.
                   • Greater engagement with every student

                   • teacher works with small groups in class
                   • “connect teachers” help other students
                   • Teachers work in pairs bec the discussion is

Non-chronological History
                   • Why is it hard to remember facts and timelines?

                   • Non connected facts. History taught in themes. Students need
bookshelves to organize ideas by themes

                   • write their own definition, then work with a partner to get one
                         definition between the two.

                   • the partners join another partnership

                   • whole class come to consensus on the definition of war

                   • choose a pivotal point in history and change the outcome

                   • Skype to recording industry to ask what
does it mean to have ethical uses of media?

Shifting control
                   • Getting out of the way to allow students to
demonstrate how to learn, collaborate, and
create work with purpose that they control
