 Advisory : Consisting of four subservice
lines: Actuarial, IT Risk and Assurance, Risk, and

companies' capital agenda – preserving,

8. Work Culture
 Young & Fun - EY hires a lot of fresh out of college people. That means you are very likely
to be working with a team of 20-somethings. You usually do team lunches and events
and although you work ALOT you can have fun doing it.
 A culture of mediocrity - Once you work at EY you will start to get a lot of head hunters
contacting you for other jobs. Usually the best people leave for better opportunities.
This is in part because good people will find great opportunities and the fact that EY
doesn't do much to reward top performers. EY also has a strict rating system and will
encourage the bottom people to look for other jobs. With the top gone for better
opportunities and the bottom coached out you are left with the middle.
 A CYA culture - with the PCAOB baring down on the big 4 over SOX work the work done
in the big 4 has increasingly become one of excess documentation. You'll find you spend
less and less time on problem solving, audit design, accounting research etc. and more
time on mindless documentation trying to jump through hoops for the possible PCAOB
review.
