2. FILMING –
PRODUCTION STILLS
The technical skills that I have learned are how to properly use a green screen and edit it in
premier pro, using camera techniques and using a battery charger properly. It was my first
time using a green screen and I had no idea how it worked.
I first asked David and he explained that I could film normally on a tripod and then they would
set it up like they thought that they thought I wanted. I had to book the studio for this. After I
had filmed I had put the footage on to my iMac and then on to my memory stick. Then I
searched up on google “how to edit green screen footage in premier pro”. You have to get the
footage into premier pro, get another background, put the green screen layer on top of the
normal layer, get an ultra key on the green screen layer, edit out the colour that you want to
edit out then finally edit it to scale etc. I first tried it on a practice piece that was downloaded
online. It turned out well, It is on my blog. Then I tried it on the real thing. In my opinion, my
green screen pieces of my music video don’t look believable but I had fun creating them. They
are on my blog.
The other skill that I have leaned is how to use a battery charger. I booked all my equipment,
this included to batteries and a charger. I thought it was a good idea to book a battery charger
as you might need to charge either of your batteries. You put the battery in the battery end
and then plug it in. the colour of the battery charger should go green when it is charged. It
only took two hours.
3. FILMING –
PRODUCTION STILLS
My logistical production skills that I have learned are that sometimes I cannot film in
places that I would like. Even if they are public as I don’t want to look dodgy. I was
planning on filming in the woods at night. I quickly thought that it was a bad idea as I
might get arrested! So I just changed to my back garden to film at night. It was much
more spacious anyway. In my intro, it did rain but that was great for me as it made my
piece aesthetically pleasing for my audience as it just added to it. I just filmed under and
umbrella, my mum helped me do this, which I found very helpful. I did not rain any time
else during filming.
My personnel production skills that I have learned are that no one is reliable. So, I just
basically filmed most of me, just in one verse and at the end someone was in the music
video with me. In verse one, my sister, who is blind, was the person that I was pushing/
in argument with (the victim). All I had to do, was instruct and guide her in what to do
and it worked well. My mum filmed this for me. In the ending scene, I needed a victim to
turn into so I chose Hannah, I just showed her what to do and she did it. It turn out well.
Harriet filmed this. I filmed the rest of the film.
4. FILMING –
PRODUCTION STILLS
My planning skills that I have learned are to plan what you are filming and at what time. I
completed this as a table. It worked well for me as I knew what I was filming and at a
specific time. The result was that I had got every thing filmed that I needed and was
actually done with my video a week early. I would do this again. I have done this for
editing as well. This helps me a lot.
I do not require anymore filming as I have more than enough clips that I have used.
There are no more next steps required for more filming.
5. EDITING-
PRE CHORUS
For my first production task I have tried to complete for the pre-
chorus of my video. I think it suits the style of video very much and
It was filmed on college grounds.
This was a challenge to film for more than my expected time. The
video is shorter than what I wanted to make but it lives up to my
expectations. It was very hard to get it for a longer time as in the
college hallways, they have sensor lights and some people walked
through the hallways and the light turns on. It was quite annoying to
me as the place I was thinking of was near engineering, but I could
not as I had this problem.
I got back early so I decided to test the shots, some of them were
shaky and had people in them. There was one video that was fine
(this one.)

7. EDITING-
INTRODUCTION
The next thing I have filmed was the introduction. I filmed this in my
back garden of my house. It was raining which was perfect weather
to film it, of course protecting the technical equipment, with
umbrellas.
My family helped me film this, so it didn’t take long at all. I made the
‘dead bag’ prop with two bin bags, duct tape and some recycling
boxes and packaging. I was please with how this turned out. I also
brought some fake blood to add to the realism.
The reason why I didn't show myself as the criminal (as I had
planned) in this intro is because It didn't look how I wanted it and it
looked better when I was not in it. I did this even though I did get a
couple shots of me dragging the body in the bin.

9. EDITING-
CHORUS(S)
Then I filmed the chorus’. There are three of them, so I wanted to get
more advanced in the mildness of them. This is symbolic of the guilt
of the criminal as they have done something terrible.
The plans changed for the location this was filmed. I decided that it
was to risky to film outside of the woods or in a tunnel. People
would have thought I had done something wrong as there would
have been blood on my hands and feet. So I just decided to film in
my garden (like in the intro). I waited until it was pitch black, as we
had a back light, but it is dim, so I thought it was perfect. We also
have a side gate, I thought that would be spooky and perfectly lit.

11. EDITING-
VERSE ONE
Verse one was filmed at home too as it was too late to be going out
and I had a hole schedule of going to the places I wanted but I had
run out of time. I don’t have time to get anymore footage now.
I am happy with what I have produced. I have followed the story line
of my storyboard. I can now practice with the footage that I have
been working with (I have been doing this).
My sister and Mum helped me with this one. My sister is the ‘victim’
and My mum was filming. I was grateful that they helped.

13. EDITING-
VERSE TWO
As I have said with verse one, It (verse 1 & 2) was filmed at home.
Which was fine for me as it was going to be filmed at night anyway.
It first I was struggling with getting the last bit of footage for the last
part of the verse. But then I now know that you can put layers on to
the video parts and overlap them. So, I thought of putting the left-
over parts of the footage from other parts of the music video in this
part. It was a great idea. The idea made the video weirder. David
helped me with this. Such as the part where the hand is going down
the wall and it jump scares you. (reminder – this is not the actual
Mv)

15. EDITING-
BRIDGE
The Bridge is where things get a lot more interesting. I turn my self
into a ghost. I had to green screen my hands and feet turning see
through like a phantom.
I had to google “how to put a background on a green screen”. At
first, I had practiced with a free downloadable green screen footage
that I had found online. It was easier to complete then doing my own
footage first. I had to know how to use ultra key.
17. EDITING-
BRIDGE
After that I had to use my own footage. I did the exact same thing as what I
did with the practice version. (I practiced with my own footage).
I had to enlarge the full body part which was quite annoying as I wanted to
complete a full body shot of me (the criminal) as a ghost. I could not do this
as there was the lighting (the lamp shades) in the way. So I had to enlarge
this. I also had to scale this so that you could only see my masked face and
hands. I added in a jump scare to make this better.
I also did not know how to alter the green screen lighting/image on premier
pro, but I now know how to do this thanks to Scott and Dave.

19. EDITING-
ENDING
It is the end. The ending of the Mv. I was very happy with this this
ending as I know how to edit and compose the green screen on
premier pro. I have used the razor tool to make ghostly
transformations to Hannah who I have used at the end of the video.

20. EDITING-
WHOLE VIDEO
I think my whole video is good for a first attempt. I have a
good knowledge of what I can do on Premier Pro and I don’t
even know how to do anything on After Effects.
In the whole clip, I have just put all the practice clips that I
am happy with in the order that I want them. I think it turned
out fine. I could have put more time into it outside of college.
But I don’t have the right software for my laptop.

22. EDITING-

SETTING UP PREMIERE
I have saved this exported file with the file name “MV Bury a
friend Joy B” as I thought this would be an appropriate name for it.
I pressed resent but it should be DSLR and then an number after
it that you should enter.
Then you can import the filed you would like.

24. EDITING –
FILE MANAGMENT
I have stored all of my work on my memory stick organised in folders so that I know
where everything is. For example, I stored all the premier files in a practice/real folder in
my memory stick.

pro in one folder. Then in
one end result file, my
music video.

WORKSPACE
This is the mouse, where you can click and drag.
This is the razor cutting tool, you can cut videos and get rid of
any footage you don’t want.
This is the hand tool. You can grab things with it .
This is the magnify tool, you can look at
things more closely with it.
28. EDITING –
REFINEMENT
I went into the individual clips and edited them even though I
didn’t really edit them that much. I was quite confident with this
work.
29. EDITING –
COLOUR CORRECTION/SFX
You can edit the colours in the top bar. It says colours, then
click and this should come up.
You can drag any of the bars and colour wheels how you would
like. I experimented and mine turned out like this...
30. EDITING –
EXPORT
I have saved this exported file with the file name “MV Bury a friend Joy B”
as I thought this would be an appropriate name for it.
To export a file you should go to file, export media, you need to select
from the first selection bar – H.264, press the blue writing and pick an
appropriate name for it, make sure you have export audio and export
video ticked and finally, select the size of the piece – YouTube 720p HD.
I have saved this to my memory stick. Then uploaded it to YouTube.
*The only thing wrong with doing this is I got copy righted* I was annoyed
about that but you can still play the video, so I am fine with this.
Then I uploaded my final music video to my blog.
