Working Title:
Adventure game the game
Audience:
My game will be targeted at males between the ages of 15 and 25. This is because stereotypically
men are much more violent, and in this game there is a lot of fighting and gore which women may
not be as drawn too. It is aimed at that age bracket as the levels will be quite extensive, and
people between that age often have much more free time compared to the ages. The game will
not be targeted at any sort of social grade as it will be rewarding for all with no social agendas,
meaning that it will not target any specific sort of ethnicity or sexuality. The game will be targeted
at people with an achiever and wanna be personality, This is because the game will reward
players with money and better items for completing harder tasks in the game. The game is also
going to visit lots of different areas, such as cities, village’s even desserts this means that as
playing the game no matter where you live, at some point you will be able to relate with the game
world. The game is meant for entertainment, so people playing the game will be looking for
escapism and to experience something they wouldn’t normally experience in real life.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I have lots of Photoshop skills. These skills have developed over many projects I have worked on.
I learnt how to make pixel art when making my irn bru ad and also from making a video for one of
my GCSE courses. However I am also very competent at using different tools in Photoshop.
These skills include creating my own brushes with different effects to create an ambiance I like,
such as different shades. I can use things such as filter gallery’s well to create intriguing effects
and to influence how a final product works. I can use the line tool very effectively to create different
shapes. Along with many more tools.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The idea for my game is to create a side scrolling action game within an open world with there
being seamless transitions between the open world and side scrolling gameplay. The open world
is very much a cross between final fantasy with a top down view with a large FOV and Pokémon
much closer camera. Players will move round the world in this view exploring different areas and
finding different treasures and missions with lots of characters, each having different personalities
and story’s. When the player goes to do a quest they will travel to an area and move into a side
scroller view, in this view the player will move through doing different tasks to complete objectives.
There will be different bosses and enemies to fight, these will be very challenging and will rely on
the player knowing what combos to use and where each enemies weakness. The game will not
tell the player this and it will rely on the player experimenting with different tactics and play styles.
The game will reward players for completing objectives, these rewards will be weapons, health
items, armour and gold (which can be used to buy the other objects). How you complete certain
missions will also effect the game world from massive story changing choices tomaking certain
merchants giving you better prices than others.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will be evaluating my game as I go along to help me make changes and remove certain aspects if
they do not fit well with the overall gameplay. After I have finished my game I will be comparing it
to other products of the same genre. I will compare the art styles, combat and story to see what
my game does differently. I will also be looking t what I did well and what I would do again if I was
to remake the game.
