WORLD
TERRAIN
In the game world there are
multiple different locations
that are made of different
terrain, each is crafted to
effected gameplay in the area
and the types of enemies you
have to fight. The types of
terrain vary from cobbled
streets in novigrad,
mountains in kaer morhen,
snow in skellige and woods
of vellen.

3. GAME
WORLD
ARCHITECTURE
The Architecture in The Witcher
3 varies in scale. From Massive
forts and cities to small huts in
rural villages. The Cities are
made up of harbor buildings
bridges and tall stone houses,
these are to show the much
richer areas of the world,
compared to run down and
burnt wood huts in the smaller
villages scattered around. The
came world is also filled with
other entities such as the
hangman's tree and a large tree
with a heart. The variation
really builds the world and
drives exploration.

Objects
In The Witcher 3 You are able to
interact with a majority of objects.
You can open the inventory of
boxes, dead bodies, this opens up
the availability of loot items which
increase your players stats and
abilities, they provide mutagens to
enhance our character. Doors into
buildings are also interacted with
when walking into them, doors in
The Witcher 3 do not cause loading
screens in like many open worlds
and each building is explorable on
the inside, because there is no
loading walking into these
buildings it makes exploration and
item looting much more
entertaining. You are also able to
interact with notice boards to pick
up new quests.

5. Characters
Playable
In The Witcher 3 you play as
two characters. The main one
is Geralt who is hunting
down Ciri before she is killed
by the Wild Hunt. You can
develop Geralt building him
to play how you want. You
do this by changing his armor
to have better stats and
deciding which skill trees to
go after. The other character
you play is Ciri, you play here
during certain story missions
to build up your opinion of
her and to help progress the
story, she cannot be upgraded
or changed

WORLD
NPCS
The World is full of lots of
different NPCs. They vary from
Human to Ghouls. Each has vey
different stats and each has to be
approached differently for the
most success defeating, Making
sure you have the right items and
potions for the encounter. Not all
NPC are enemies and many you
have to help and talk to and this
has a great impact on the story as
you will need friends to help you
defeat the Wild Hunt. Within
Each category of NPC there is
also a lot of variation, and there is
a lot of tension between races,
this really helps build a rich
interesting game world.

7. Feedback
Interface
This is when the game
interfaces with the player
outside of the game for
example in controller
vibration which is what The
Witcher 3 does. In The Witcher
3 your character wears a
medallion that hums when
certain things happens, such
as being in a certain area or
your Quen runs out. So when
this happens in game if using
a controller you would feel it
vibrate.

8. PERSPECTIVES
The Witcher 3 is played from a
third person view. This
means that the camera is
looking over the shoulder of
the playable character. It is
also 3D meaning that you are
able to move on a £
Dimensional axis, can move
anywhere you want rather
than only up and down and
side to side. Unlike other
games such as Skyrim you are
not able to switch between
First and Third person,
however this makes combat
much easier as every move is
more clear on your screen.

9. Cut Scenes
In The Witcher 3 the only cut scenes
that aren't interactive are when you
are loading into the game, these are to
remind you of what has happened in
the story. The only other cut scene is
right at the start where it reminds you
of the previous game and sets up the
events of this game. However there
are other cut scenes however these
aren't videos they are animations as
two characters will be talking, when
these are happening you will be able
to choose what you say. This makes
you much more engaged in the story
as you have an actual impact and
because it doesn’t take you out of the
game into a video. This is very similar
to a lot of RPGs as they want it to be
about your story rather than a set
story, that you have follow in a linear
manner. For example the Halo 5 cut
scenes are much more film like as you
can see your character doing things
that you yourself cannot do in game,
unlike in The Witcher 3 where there
would be no video.

10. GAME
TYPE
SINGLE PLAYER
The Witcher 3 is only a single
player game as it has no
multiplayer element, this means
that the game has a much larger
focus on story. This is different to
the majority of modern games
like Call Of Duty and The Last Of
Us. The last of us has a great
campaign however the
multiplayer was never as
successful, where as Call of Duty’s
campaigns are often very Dull,
but the multiplayer is always
much better and is the games
major selling point. Some Games
Like PUBG only have a
multiplayer game mode.

GOALS
The Witcher 3s appeal and success is heavily
reliant on its world and how you invest your
time, so it has hundreds of side many are just
as great as the main story, each is different;
the only ones that are similar are the Witcher
Contracts which rely on you hunting a high
level monster. The fact that each quest has a
great narrative makes people want to come
back and put more time into the game. The
player is also rewarded for these quests. A
game similar to this is Skyrim however the
quests are all very similar as the game
always creates more side quests however it is
very limited in what it creates so missions
are very repetitive. A lot of games like Call
of Duty do not have side quest but instead
give the player separate objectives in
missions, these have no real reward. Players
in The Witcher 3 also gain experience which
goes to leveling up, this allows players to
equip higher tear armor, then enabling them
to fight harder enemies. Leveling also allows
them to choose another skill which enhances
there character even more.

12. REWARDS
There are rewards in The
Witcher 3 for doing certain
tasks, this could be a special
sword or just experience
points. However you can also
get achievements for doing
much larger tasks, these
achievements are recorder on
the service you bought the
game from, e.g Steam. Other
Games such as Uncharted also
give you cheats that you can
use, in the first 3 Uncharted
games where the player can
fulfill certain requirements
and unlock the doughnut
drake skin.

13. ARTISTIC
STYLES
The Witcher 3s art style is
photorealistic 3D graphics. It
is photorealist as it it carefully
try's to mimic what things
would look like if they were
in the real world rather than
on screen, even though it is a
fantasy setting nothing is
exaggerated graphically to
look cartoony. It is 3D
because each of the assets are
models rather than flat
images. It isn't 3D isometric
either as this would be more
like Mario which uses
different 2D images to make it
appear that the game is 3D.

14. GAMEPLAY
RULES OF THE
GAME
The rules of the game
are very simple as
even though it is a
fantasy game physics
still apply, you can
die from from etc. On
console these cannot
be changed however
on PC the modding
Community can and
have made mods that
range from graphical
to gameplay
changing
INVENTORY
The inventory in the
game is quite strict,
you can carry
whatever you want as
long as it does not go
over your weight
limit, this can be
changed through
leveling and horses.
Items in the inventory
have different rarities,
the rarer an item the
better it will be and it
will have other buffs
depending on how
rare it is.
DIFFICULTY
The game has different
difficulty settings, and
even then after
completing the game
you can play New Game
Plus which makes
enemies even more
difficult. The higher the
difficulty the more you
have to pay attention
during combat as the AI
gets more intelligent and
just a few wrong moves
can cause you to die.
This makes the game
much more skill based
compared to the
majority of games
currently on the market.
15. ADDICTION
Since 2013 Video Game
Addiction was recognized
and a mental disorder. It is
believed to be a mental
disorder because of the
reward system in games
which drives people to want
to play the game more as
people need to feel rewarded,
much like gambling. There
has been treatment centers
being started to treat the
addiction.
