Six members of Syrett family ALL drive SEATS
/ Parents and four daughters are all devotees of young-spirited brand
/ Family treated to carvery lunch in scenic Somerset countryside
/ All cars bought from and maintained by Carshop SEAT in Yeovil
Meet the Syrett family from Warminster – or, put it another way, meet the SEAT
family…
That’s because ex-professional footballer Dave Syrett, his wife Yvonne and their
four daughters all drive SEATs in a massive endorsement of the Barcelona-based
brand.
All six have their cars looked after by SEAT dealership Carshop Yeovil, which was
established in 1990; and in some case family members travel up to 100 miles on a
round trip to ensure their beloved cars are properly maintained.
In recognition of this unique customer loyalty the family members and a few
relatives were recently treated to a Sunday carvery at scenic Haselbury Mill Hotel
and Restaurant in Haselbury Plucknett, near Crewkerne, by the Carshop team
which is located in Brymton Way on Yeovil’s Lynx Trading Estate.
All the Syrett family has previously owned SEATs meaning in total they have
owned FIFTEEN of the young-spirited cars.
Dave Syrett, now a school head groundsman after a football career that took in
spells with Swindon Town, Mansfield Town, Walsall, Peterborough United and
Northampton Town, explained: “As a family we are all great fans of the SEAT
brand. We think they are very reliable, comfortable and good-looking cars and they
are great value for money.
“It was a lovely gesture of Carshop Yeovil to take us out for this meal and give us
something back. It was a lovely carvery and we greatly appreciate their kind
gesture.”
So who drives what in the Syrett SEAT family?

Dave, from Warminster, takes the wheel of an Ibiza 1.2 I-TECH in metallic grey
and so does wife Yvonne, except hers is red.
Eldest daughter Kerry Syrett, an Administration Officer also from Warminster, is
the proud owner of a two-year-old 1.4 Ibiza Copa.
There’s also Michelle Bell, a PE teacher from Weymouth, who along with her
husband Mike finds that the Leon combines great performance and practicality,
with plenty of space for their young family.
Hayley Syrett, a Head English teacher, opts for something a bit smaller in the
shape of a white Mii city car, while youngest sister Vicki Wellman, a teacher from
the New Forest, completes the line-up in her grey Ibiza 1.2.
Dave, Yvonne, Kerry and Michelle have all previously owned Ibizas – three in
Michelle’s case – while Vicki used to drive an Arosa.
Michelle’s two children – Austin and Faith – and husband Mike also came along to
the lunch treat, where they were joined by Carshop Yeovil proprietor Richard
Singleton and the dealership’s Manager Martin Berkley.
Martin said: “I’ve been in the motor trade more than 30 years but this is the first
time I’ve come across six family members all driving cars from the same brand.
The Syretts have been a great family to do business with and this was an ideal
opportunity to reward them for their loyalty.”
The Ibiza I-TECH model, launched earlier this year, comes with a 1.2 TSI 105PS
engine and a stylish, high quality interior unique to I-TECH, and is available in
three door SC, five door hatchback and estate versions.
With a fuel economy of 55 mpg and CO2 emissions of 119 g/km, specification
highlights of this model include 16-inch titanium finish alloy wheels and unique I-
TECH upholstery with a dark blue cloth base and centre panels and luxurious
leather side bolsters and headrests embossed with the I-TECH logo.
