Syllabus:
Course Description and Topics
 Course Description: Through completion of a capstone project and presentation
relevant to current and future issues in the aerospace/aviation industry students will
demonstrate knowledge learned throughout their aviation degree program and apply this
information to the real world. Students also complete a capstone examination that covers
topics and learning objectives from previous aviation courses. (Course must be taken in
student’s final semester.)
Courses Objectives: By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Students will evaluate the management principles of airport operations, air
transportation, aviation logistics, and their application to real world situations in the
aviation industry.
2. Students will apply advanced theories and concepts of aviation safety, security and
human factors related to the aviation industry.
3. Students will identify simulation systems and technological developments in the
aerospace industry.
4. Students apply advanced research skills in the field of Aviation related to integrating,
analyzing, and effectively communicating information for airport operations, safety,
security and technology related to their selected concentration.

Capstone Course Outline - Week 1
 Written projects:
 The students must develop and submit in Blackboard for the final project: Capstone Project
 Students will be provided a list of recommended topics (see Blackboard course shell) to choose from or
the student can discuss a related topic with their instructor which is representative of one of the core courses
from their program.
 The student will have the selected topic approved by the Instructor in week 1 (day 3) of
the course and the Final Paper in Week 4. The paper format will be submitted in the current APA
edition used by the Institution. Safe Assign will be enabled by your instructor. Safe Assign uses a global
database algorithm to detect potential plagiarism.
 The typed capstone project should be 10 pages in length not including the title, figures, photos, tables,
and reference list. The paper should have a minimum of 15 peer-reviewed (scholarly) resources. An Abstract
is NOT required for the project. A Table of Contents is not required for this paper. All resources mentioned in
the paper must be cited in APA format. A rubric will be used for grading this assignment. The student should
present a problem or gap in the literature (research) for their approved topic. Student will provide
recommendations as well as defend their research. The Capstone Instructor will discuss the project criteria in
detail during Week 1.

Capstone PowerPoint Presentation
 PowerPoint Presentation:
 Is required for on ground and online students taking the Capstone course. The student
will use Microsoft PowerPoint (or other approved presentation software) in order to prepare
a visual presentation of the information contained in the final project. Photos and graphics
can be included on the slides but should not be the main content of the presentation. The
student must include a title slide as well as a reference list slide. No more than 12
content slides supporting your paper (excluding the title and reference page) is expected.
APA formatting should be used in the slide presentation where applicable. A rubric will be
used for grading this assignment.
 Online students will make arrangements with the Instructor prior to week 4 to
deliver their live presentation via an approved online conferencing platform such as
Blackboard or Zoom. The online students will also coordinate the live
presentation date with their Instructor during week 3. The time length of the
presentation will also be determined by the Instructor at the start of the course. Students
are required to dress professionally when presenting LIVE. Instructor will
discuss specifics in week 1 for attire.
 Student will defend their research at the end of their LIVE Presentation and
answer questions about their research

ATTENDANCE & PARTICIPATION:
The coursework at Everglades University demands your full participation;
therefore, you are expected to attend all scheduled classes. If you do miss a
class, all work covered is your responsibility. In most cases homework for
the week is due on Saturday, however, please note that
Discussion Board comments must be staggered throughout the week (with
the first post no later than Wednesday. Also, the Term Paper (Week 4) is
due on Saturday of that week.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS:
All assignments and Exams are due by 11:59 PM on Saturday of the week
that they are assigned. Except for the term paper which is due Friday Week
4! Assignments submitted late will receive a deduction of no more than 10%
of the total value of the assignment per week of lateness. Late policy
deductions may be waived if the student submits documentation clearly
showing mitigating circumstances.
Assignments cannot be accepted after the class end date without an
Incomplete Contract in place. If you believe you will not be able to turn in an
assignment on time, you must communicate with your instructor ASAP.
Failure to communicate with the instructor prior to work deadlines will result
in a point deduction.

PLAGIARISM & ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:
Do not make the mistake of “borrowing” text from a website or other source
material without attribution. The writing assignments in this course are to be
based on your personal experience and knowledge, and not on the ideas or
information provided by another writer. This is not to say that you may not
occasionally embellish your writing with an appropriate quotation, statistic, or
other tidbits, but the source of information or author of the quote should be
mentioned in the text using APA style. Any unauthorized copying or passing
off the work of another as your own (also known as “plagiarism”) will be dealt
with harshly. Students receive an F for the assigned work and depending on
the severity of the incident, may fail the course, be placed on probation, or
be expelled from the University.
Please be aware that it is generally very easy to detect cheating by copying,
and it is simply not worth the risk to try it. Cutting and pasting materials from
a website with minor alterations is still plagiarism!
