‱ 15% individual participation
‱ 40% customer discovery progress
‱ 20% weekly lessons learned presentations
‱ 25% final lessons learned presentation / video
Team formation: preferably submission only by team

  • 3. WHAT IS LEAN LAUNCHPAD?
  • 4. We should teach startups how to search for a proven scalable business model instead of how to write a book full of hypotheses. Steve Blank

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STARTUPS AND COMPANIES Startups are not smaller versions of large companies Startups are about search, not about execution Business plans are based on guesses Entrepreneurs and VCs execute on these guesses Facts are outside the building First test hypotheses, then create a fact-based plan
  • 7. FOCUS ON CUSTOMER DISCOVERY Test the solution Verify or pivot Draw BMC & state hypotheses Test the problem Customer validation
  • 8. LLP IN YOUR CLASS
  • 9. REPETITIVE PROCESS RESULTS IN PROGRESS Watch the online video’s Do your customer interviews Process learnings Present your progress The online video’s cover the different sections of the business model canvas. Each week there is a different topic. On average 30 min / week, for 10 weeks (5 hours in total) Can be watched on Udacity or Launchpad Central (includes tracking).

REPETITIVE PROCESS RESULTS IN PROGRESS Watch the online video’s Do your customer interviews Process learnings Present your progress State clear hypotheses to test and how to test them up front. Students get out of the building and do customer interviews. On average 10 interviews / team / week. Log all the interviews on Launchpad Central. Teacher gives comments online.
  • 11. REPETITIVE PROCESS RESULTS IN PROGRESS Watch the online video’s Do your customer interviews Process learnings Present your progress Validate or invalidate hypotheses in case of enough interviews. Adapt the business model canvas based on learnings. State new hypotheses to test.
  • 12. REPETITIVE PROCESS RESULTS IN PROGRESS Watch the online video’s Do your customer interviews Process learnings Present your progress Short presentations to present updates (10 min/team). All students give feedback on the learnings. This class moment is used to share learning amongst teams. Combination of class feedback and online feedback.
  • 13. PRACTICALITIES Length: super adaptable from intensive program to class (9-15 weeks). Grading: ‱ 15% individual participation ‱ 40% customer discovery progress ‱ 20% weekly lessons learned presentations ‱ 25% final lessons learned presentation / video Team formation: preferably submission only by team @Ghent University: open for all, team formation in class
