This document summarizes a school project from CEIP SAN ANTONIO LA FOIA in Spain that uses puppets and the traditional tale "María La Castañera" to teach preschool children about the autumn season. The tale is about a granny named María who sells warm chestnuts in the mountains. The children do related activities like crafts, posters, and songs. They also make a poster collaboratively about autumn. As a final activity, a puppet of the chestnut seller comes to school and gives the children warm chestnuts to taste. The project uses a traditional tale and hands-on activities to teach children concepts about autumn in a fun way.

3. In autumn, at our scool we work a tradicional tale called, María La Castañera,
it is an easy tale to teach children about autumn, their characteristics and
customs related whith this season.
This tale tells a curios anecdote that happened to her main character, María,
a granny sold hot chestnuts. Everyday, she goes to the mountain and pick up
chestnuts to warm them up.

4. But, one day something strange happened.
Suddenly, it started to rain and
chestnuts climbed up until thr roof.....
oh, no!!!! It weren´t chetsnuts, it were
snails...
so she has to go back to the mountain
to pick up more chestnuts to warm and
sell them.

5. According to the tale we do different activities such as posters, main character crafs and
Autumn activities. We sing The Chestnut seller song and other activities.

the autumn season

10. Preschool children do a poster about the autumn. Everybody collaborates whit this.

11. As a final activity, the chestnut seller come to our school and give children
a delicious and warm chetnuts to taste.
