2. INTRODUCTION
John Pacheco is the founder and chief executive officer of
the Financial American Corporation, based in Scottsdale,
Arizona. Through his work at this Arizona firm, John
Pacheco regularly supports numerous charitable
endeavors, among them, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Established in 1983, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital is
one of the country’s largest such institutions. It has more
than 1,000 pediatric specialists, and offers patients a
variety of care, including trauma, emergency, outpatient,
and inpatient services. It has six separate “centers of
excellence,” including its recently built 11-story tower on
the hospital’s main campus.
3. PHOENIX CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION
To help the hospital raise funds, the Phoenix
Children’s Hospital Foundation sponsors fundraising
events throughout the year. The Children’s Fight for
Life (CFFL) Casino Night, which occurred on
November 7, 2015, at the Scottsdale Resort at
McCormick Ranch, was the 10th annual edition of
this event. Included in the cost of the ticket were
dinner, a cocktail reception, casino gambling, and a
silent auction. The CFFL Casino Night raises money
to benefit leukemia research at the Center for Cancer
and Blood Disorders at the hospital.
