- The Importance of usability, some key principles worth sharing, and overview of the usability processUsability means making products and systems easier to use, and matching them more closely to user needs and requirements.Chances are, you’re not the only business in your field. Today’s consumers are offered thousands of choices. If it’s a chore to find information and products or to decide where to go next, people leave. Why? Because you’ve made the decision for them.It adds to your credibilityIt increases repeat visitors
- Effectiveness - can users complete tasks, i.e. can they do what they came to your site to do?
- Efficiency - how much effort do users require to do this? (Often measured in time).Minimize user error.
- It’s about making it easier for your customers or clients to get from point A to point BIt’s about removing hurdles and boulders in the way.It’s about making your content easy to find so your visitors can learn about what you do, so they can buy things, so they can call you for more information, book a sales call and move along their merry way
- Satisfaction – what do users think about the products ease of use?
- Case studies from the Nielsen Norman Group conducted and compiled in 2008 show that after redesigning a site with usability in mind sees an average ROI of 83%. This is actually DOWN from 2002 where the ROI was 135% - Websites were just terrible back then.
