Action Steps To Overcome This
1. Make a commitment to act.
• Attending networking events will separate you from
half the people in your industry.
1. Do the research that will differentiate you.
• Come with 2-3 good questions to ask people.
1. Practice.
• Go to MeetUp.com and find one event/group you
would be interested in attending and sign-up.

1. Introduce yourself.
• Say: "Hi I'm John" or "Hi I'm John. What brings you here?”
• Conversation over “elevator pitch.”
1. Keep it simple.
2. When you run out of something to say, ask them
a question based on the last thing they said.
• Why do you…
• How did you...
• Can you tell me a little more about...
1. Practice.
• Ask a total stranger for the time, or for directions, even if you
know where you going.

1. Ask in the right way.
• "You're very knowledgeable on xxx topic I was wondering if you could
take a look at my resume to see if it's up to par with the rest of the
industry.”
• When you ask for help you are paying that person a compliment.
1. Always pay it forward.
• Don't worry about having to pay the person back. Successful networkers
never keep score.
1. Practice: Ask someone you are connected with on LinkedIn for some
really simple advice career advice whether you are looking for a job
or not.
• "I was looking at your LinkedIn profile and you have accomplished a lot of
impressive things. Would you be willing to talk for 10-15 minutes on the
phone about how you achieved all that success."

I added common formatting/branding for all slides, clearly labeling the fear, and the solution steps.
I want to focus on action steps. #1 could be a comment you make or something I could ask about ,and we could remove as “action.” I like having the practice exercises as an action step, as these are great ideas anyone can do if they are uncomfortable.
Is it OK to use images like this, or are these trademarked/copyrighted in any way?
Reduced text and put below, but let’s discuss tonight. I like your specific examples, we could waterfall the slides and do one at a time, or put them on different slides. We can also role play on the call, so people can sense how un-scary it really is. Everyone is there to network. It's not weird to say things like this This will get you used to talking to people you don't know
Maybe #2 I can ask you about instead of having as an action step. #1 People love being asked for help if you ask in the right way, as long as it's not for a job. Also a role play opportunity.
Same image question.
I think you have a great point that, you can reach out w.o. having it be a request. Maybe the practice exercise is to reach out 10 times and simply attempt to engage others on social media as you illustrate here. I love the idea of giving people low-risk, practice exercises. I met Lea on Twitter and we exchanged some tweets and now were doing a webinar together
Let’s see if we can get this down to one question: Fear that no one will want to talk to me because I don’t have anything to offer? Hm, not sure how to make it one.
2 and 3 are kind of the same. Is there a “practice” exercise you can suggest for this one? Is part of this, that you have to see yourself differently? You have to see yourself as young professional w. something to offer rather than newbie college grad? I have exercises for that, listing out positive things, etc… Would love your perspective on that.

I’ll add photos, I have to get them from Cheryl’s pc. What other connection info do you want to add? Is there a freebie you want to point them to?
