Peterborough area Manufacturers to Innovate, Expand Business and Create Jobs

Seven Peterborough based manufacturers will benefit from an investment announced today by Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) and The Honourable Maryam Monsef, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development and Member of Parliament for Peterborough—Kawartha.
Northumberland CFDC is pleased to collaborate with Canadiana Cabinets Ltd, Dynacast Ltd, Havelock Metals Inc, Kingdon Lumber Limited, Quickmill Inc, Ritz Plastics Inc and Savage Arms (Canada) Inc to support manufacturing innovation, software technology advancements and new market expansion. These combined projects will create up to 24 new full-time positions within Eastern Ontario.
The combined investment of up to $700,000 through the Rural Innovation Initiative Eastern Ontario (RIIEO) regional stream, a project funded by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) is matched by $1,905,701 in incremental private investment.
About the recipients:
Canadiana Cabinets Ltd – Family-owned and operated, Canadiana Cabinets provides custom kitchen cabinets, vanities, built-ins, range hoods and accessories. Funding has been invested in robotics driven manufacturing innovation for global business expansion.
Dynacast Ltd – A leader in die cast zinc and components, including metal injection technology, Dynacast will invest funding into capital innovation for business expansion.
Havelock Metal Co. – Havelock Metal is a manufacturer of metal roofing and siding products, located in Havelock. Funding has supported their core business within the area of a digital advanced manufacturing system.
Kingdon Lumber Limited – located in Lakefield and established in 1927, Kingdon Lumber is a leading manufacturer and supplier of building materials – including roof and floor trusses, and other residential construction components. This funding has been invested into innovative process and productivity plant automation.
Quickmill Inc. – Peterborough based Quickmill Inc engineer, design and manufacture large gantry CNC machining centers supplied globally. Funding will go towards integrating smart manufacturing for business expansion.
Ritz Plastics Inc. – offering high performance injection molding, specializing insert molding, product distribution, and prototyping, Ritz Plastics will invest this funding into capital and software innovation for business productivity and expansion.

2. Savage Arms (Canada) Inc. – a market leader of quality rimfire sporting rifles, who machine, assemble,
and distribute their products worldwide, Savage Arms (Canada) have invested this funding into the
acceleration of a cloud based technology operating system.
Recognizing the vital role rural communities play in the region’s economy, FedDev Ontario is
providing a total of $15 million over two years for the CFDCs in Eastern Ontario to deliver the RIIEO.

Northumberland CFDC is one of 15 CFDCs in eastern Ontario receiving support from FedDev
Ontario.
CFDCs deliver a wide variety of programs and services to support community economic
development and small business growth. They employ local staff and are each governed by a
volunteer board of directors, made up of local residents representing the community.
