1 Malaysia is a concept that fosters unity among
Malaysians of all races based on several important values
that should be practiced by every citizen of Malaysia.

Proposed by Najib Tun Razak on 16 September 2010, it
urges the cabinet, government agencies, civil servants
and most prominently, the citizens to emphasize ethnic
harmony, national unity and efficient governance

There are many programmes conducted with the 1
Malaysia concept. It fosters unity among Malaysians, as
part of our countryâs aspiration to achieve developed
country status by the year 2020. It is part of our
Government Transformation Plan.

23. INTRODUCTION
Islam Hadhari was originally proposed in Malaysia by
Tunku Abdul Rahman in 1957. It was then implemented
by successive Malaysian governments, in particular Prime
Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
28. OBJECTIVES
The main objectives that Islam Hadhari is trying to achieve in
Malaysia can be summed up in the following eight points:
1. Restoring moderation, strengthening both the people and the
state.
2. Valuing good character
3. Accountability in dealing with societyâs main undertakings.
4. Building all social relations upon trust and good moral ethics.
5. Restoring law and order.
6. Cherishing unity, cooperation, and solidarity.
7. Implementing genuine Islamic teachings and achieving objectives
of the Shari`ah
8. Empowering the state to be in a leading position, not feeble and
weak-willed.
29. IMPLEMENTATION
Islam Hadhari was introduced by the Malaysian
government as an approach to develop the country
based on the principles of an Islamic civilization . On
March 31, 2004, the cabinet requested certain agencies
to undergo reforms and improvements.
30. IMPLEMENTATION
â˘On 17 October 2004 the Cabinet has appointed the
Department of Islamic Development Malaysia ( Jakim ) as
the coordinating agency for the implementation of Islam
Hadhari .
31. PURSUIT FOR KNOWLEDGE
Islam demands humans to be educated and literate. This
aids in elevating the wisdom and ethics of Malaysians.
33. HONESTY IN TRADE
Islam Hadhari encourages honest life income. Any forms
of bribery or cheating are prohibited

Islam Hadhari consists of 10 fundamental principles.

Malaysians.
We can conclude that:

⢠Many Malaysians think that both approaches have not
achieved their ultimate goal of progress and unity
42. CONCLUSION
As a multiracial nation, we, as Malaysians must unite and
progress together to achieve a common goal â A strong,
highly developed & respected Malaysia.
